Close your eyes and imagine this;

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The heart monitor droned out all of the other voices of the doctors, nurses talking about his health.

You weren't sure, you both weren't sure, if he was going to live.

It began with a subtle cough, brushing it off as if it were a slight cold and went to go buy some cough drops, but when it escalated to coughing up blood and constant wheezing, it was time for a check-up.

Frank was diagnosed with lung cancer, and went to chemotherapy the week afterwards. It was hard taking in everything at once- doing everything at once.

The both of you weren't so sure if the treatment was working, as everyday there'd be a new problem to fix.

When he was forced to stay in a hospital bed for god knows how long, he cried in your arms about how he was ready to give up, but he didn't want to, just for you.

Now, as he lays in bed, you listen closely to the heart monitor to make sure that every breath he takes won't be his last.

Holding his hand as he slept, you held onto him a death grip.

And there, you waited.
