YiYeong
I shushed the child and brought out whatever stuff that I can console this very child whose name that I still don't know or whose child he is. I know that he is a male which is obvious because he had short hair and wore clothes for boys but how did a boy like him get stuck outside his house at this timing?
Did his father not know that he is outside the house? Is his mother-- I shouldn't mention his mother because I will make him cry again. Or should I?
"Kid, I will make you some food to eat. What do you want to eat?"
"I don't want any food, I want Omma!" He yelled into my ears and I could feel like I'm going deaf already, at the tender age of 25. "Bring me Omma!"
Ok, I really have to dig out his mother who seems really irresponsible for leaving her child at the doorstep and not opening the door for him. How can a mother do this to her own children and plus, he is so cute and adorable? Very vulnerable as well as he might attract kidnappers and kidnap the child away, then asking for the ransom a few hours later... But can I even find the mother?
I picked up the child after fully ensuring myself that he wouldn't try to kick or punch me in the face, I patted the boy's back while bouncing up and down slightly to make him sleepy. I have to make him sleep first no matter what, he would be in a better mood if he does sleep for a while.
He stopped after a few bounces and he is calm, just like the boy that I have seen before he turned into this tiny monster who refuses to stop crying. And he has such an awesome lung capacity, does he take diving lessons in his free time? No, he is way too young to even take any diving lessons...
I laid the child down on the couch and he is calm again, making me remember that child that I had a mini staring competition with. "Ok, don't cry again," I told the child. "Promise me that you wouldn't cry."
"Pinky promise..." He stretched his arm which revealed a tiny hand clasped into a fist and the pinky is out, waiting to link with mine. I squatted down to his level, groaning in the process and I reached my arm out to him in the same manner, I linked his pinkie with his.
"So do you know where your father is?" He nodded. "Where is he now?"
"Work, he has gone to work." He doesn't cry when I mentioned his father but cries at the mere mention of the women that gave birth to him. "And he is coming home late."
What is wrong with his parents?? Do they not care about this cutie pie at all? "Why?" I asked again, trying to know more about his family since he is now in my house.
"He's busy." He responded. "Noona, do you have any bananas?" He pointed to the bunch of bananas on the dining table which is still in the plastic bag, I didn't have time to take out all of my groceries and put them to where they belong to.
He might cry if I don't give him one. "Wait here..." I got up and walked toward the dining table, took out the bunch of bananas from the plastic bag and broke one off from the whole bunch. I peeled off 1/3 of the skin that is covering the bananas and I gave it back to the child. "Do you have any siblings?" I returned to the previous position, me squatting down and looking at him while he is sitting on the couch. I refused to sit down on the same couch as him for one simple reason.
He nodded while munching on the bananas. "I have one sister and one brother, I'm the youngest."
"Oh really?" I pretended to perk up to get him interested in me, children love it if you listen to them. "How old are they?"
"Older than me." He answered and I tried not to look annoyed by his answer. He is just a kid, YiYeong... It is not worth it to kill him off...
"Where are they now?" His siblings might be able to take care of him and my job here is done as a temporary babysitter.
"School, they will be back before dinnertime." He finished the banana and is holding onto the banana peel at the tips. "Can I have another one?"
I shook my head. "You won't be able to eat dinner if you were to eat another banana." He pouted and he looked really sad. Is he going to cry again?
"Noona, are you a kidnapper?" I nearly lose my balance after hearing that. Is he really a 4-year-old?
"What makes you think that I'm a kidnapper?"
"You offered me food and I'm sure that there is sleep medication in it, that's why I'm tired." He yawned and I raised an eyebrow. "And you are going to tie me up in a chair."
"How am I kidnapping you when you clearly live opposite me?" He tilted his head. "And I clearly don't look like a kidnapper."
"You do." He deadpanned and I silently facepalmed. Where the hell did he even learn this from?
"Listen here, kid. I'm a very nice Noona who brought you here for the time being before your siblings and father come home. I'm like a babysitter to you in that sense."
He isn't listening to me at all, instead, he is trying very hard to not fall asleep, dozing off and then jerking his head. I love when children do this, they just didn't want to admit that they are sleepy but their bodies give out. I picked him up and into my arms, he pressed his head against my chest and wriggled around a bit before closing his eyes.
Children, they think that they can do anything but they still need their daily dose of afternoon naps. How I wished that I was a child again... So that I wouldn't have to grow up and face all sorts of shitty problems.
