Divorced // bang yongguk (#26)

I sat down in bed, waiting for my mother to come in after showering and I want to ask her about the conversation that she had with Yongguk ssi earlier because neither of them told me anything after they are done with their little chat and seeing that my mother didn't kick him out along with the Bang siblings, it could be a good thing but I can't be so certain.

She might not allow him to marry me but she is being polite and considerate by giving him a place to stay with the children for the night since it is already too late after we had dinner and her place is a little far away from Seoul, Sehyun also fell asleep too early and he doesn't like travelling when he is asleep or he will just throwing tantrums so we decided to stay the night in the end.

Yongguk ssi will sleep with the boys in my old room while Sena will sleep with my mother and me, it is the best arrangement and it is only for one night anyway. Sena is still blow-drying her hair and I sat down in the bed still waiting for my mother to come in. And she comes in with a mask pack on her face as if she is still in her early 30s, she looked at me as if I am judging her and I shook my head.

"You should put on one as well, your skin looks a little dull." She said to me and she throws me a mask pack that she kept in her mini-fridge, I bet that she bought it because she is just too lazy to get it from the main fridge outside and I am not there to give her one as usual.

"How much did you buy it for? It sure doesn't look that cheap to me." I asked her.

"It was a sale and you moved away so I had no one to do skincare for me, you should've stayed with me until you got married. You are just too stubborn to move away to Seoul just because you wanted to stay away from your ex-boyfriend who nearly became my son-in-law." She let out a huge sigh.

Sena switches off the hairdryer and puts it down on the table. "Yiyeong omma, you were almost married once? When did that even happen?"

"She dated this guy for almost 5 years who didn't have any plans of marriage, he was a jerk for not letting her know that he is not going to marry her." My mother told her, I don't want to revisit that area of my past because it would only make me so angry but my mother decided to tell her about it which made me even angrier as everything came back to my mind.

So I told Sena everything that happened that day and I even included that part where her father saved her from getting hit by a car and I told her that because it was our first encounter and I thought that he was cool, it was a coincidence that the two of us met like that and I didn't even know that I will be meeting him again when I moved to Seoul and I just had to move into the same apartment building as him and I moved into the apartment next door and became neighbours with him.

His youngest son had to sit outside of my apartment and he was kind of the person who brought me to him and everything started from there, becoming their babysitter and gaining their trust over time and now I am about to marry their father and become their stepmother. And the best thing is that his eldest child is only 8 years younger than me and she is calling me her mother which makes things a little awkward but she tells me that she has always wanted to have a mother since their real mother left them a few years ago to live her own life.

"Omma, so what do you think about it? Is it a yes or a no?" I had nearly forgotten about it because we were all talking about the one that we are not supposed to be talking about, I know that she is still letting them stay and even laughing along with Sena, I can't just assume that she has given him the green light.

"What do you think? I am not that inhumane of a person to do that and he was so sincere about marrying you and I know that he will never cheat on you because he was not the one who cheated in his past relationship." She said and looks over to Sena. "Am I right about that?" Sena nods her head, showing amazement that my mother managed to figure that out without even asking him about it directly.

And then I remembered that my mother was cheated on as well and our father left us when I was 10 years old and he never came back to see me when he moved away, maybe my mother was the one who has been keeping me away but it is a good thing that my father is not in my life anymore.

She has gone through all of that heartbreak when she found out that her husband had a secret affair with the florist for almost 10 years and I was the one who told my mother about it, and she did one great thing after I told her, she confronted my father and immediately filed for a divorce as soon as my father admitted that he was having another woman.

"So you will be my grandmother for real?" Sena said to her and my mother sighed, making me chuckle at them.

We spent an afternoon driving back home and my mother took some time to process everything that I told her and she has given us the green light for me to get married to Yongguk ssi and she will have 3 new grandchildren and a new son-in-law in return.
