Yongguk
I sat down in my car, my hands on the steering wheel, not knowing what to do. It is my own apartment and yet I don't feel comfortable living in it, it is the place that I purchased myself with my own money after the divorce but yet I feel like I regret buying this apartment. It has been a year since that but yet I can't get used to it, I don't know why either, my kids loved the place and they always come home early to be at home while I purposely try to delay my time by sitting in my car for about an hour before I decide that I would go home.
I didn't like this apartment at all, in fact I hated it, I wished that nothing had happened and I didn't have to sell off the previous house, that house was the one house that I liked because I spent a lot of time searching with her and I have lived in that house for almost 20 years, 18 years to be exact. We had made 18 years of memories, good or bad, all of my children lived there and they liked it there a lot, they have lived their whole lives there but they already got used to living in this apartment only after a year while I find it so hard to sleep every single night.
I arrived at my apartment and I had to do a double-take of making sure that I have returned back to the same place and not go to my neighbour's, it is filled with their voices, my children's voices. I let out a huge smile, happy to found out that their mother had returned home, she had finally done the correct thing and I'm happy to know that.
I opened the door and Sehyun was indeed playing catching with SeJeong, they always play like this when she is still around and she would be the catcher even though she is not that good at running nor catching. She just wanted her children to be healthy and active, even though it is just a very simple game but every child loves it.
Sehyun's giggles filled through the entire room with SeJeong's grunts and groans, it is the sounds of them having fun and it is enjoyable to see them having so much fun. "I'm going to catch you if you guys don't hide carefully!" She runs out of the bedroom and my smile immediately faltered, it is not her.
My entire mood goes down instantly and I wished that I haven't seen, it was better that I don't return home or I wished that I hadn't hired her as a babysitter either. Why is she so much like her? It is as if she is a replica of her, a younger version of her...
She noticed me that I was standing there and she immediately stopped in her steps and bowed down to me. "I didn't see you come in, Mr Bang... The children have all eaten their dinner and I am making them play a game to digest their food before they go to bed, Sera didn't want to play so she went back to her room straight after dinner."
I simply nodded to everything that she said, I didn't know how to even react to all that. It is just her notifying me about everything that she is doing but I can't even give a proper answer to that. What are you even doing?
"Mr Bang?" She calls for my attention because I didn't give her a proper response.
"Yes?" I replied.
"I am done with my work and there is still a little time before my work shift ends, is it possible that I leave now?" She asked politely with her hands clasped together. "Do I come at the same timing as today for tomorrow?"
"Yeah, you can..." I just nodded once again without even knowing what she is talking about, it is as if my mind got shut off as soon as I started talking to her.
"Then I'll see you tomorrow." She bowed to me once more and Sehyun runs up to her, wanting her to carry him in his arms. "I'll see you tomorrow morning, Bang Sehyun ssi..."
"See you tomorrow, Yiyeong Omma!" He places a kiss on both of her cheeks and it surprised me so much, he only does this to me and I don't even get kisses on my cheeks.
My other son wipes his sweat away and he bows down to her. "Thanks for taking care of us today, please don't forget my late lunch tomorrow. See you tomorrow, YiYeong ssi."
She pointed to her phone. "Just text me whatever that you wish to eat and I will try to prepare it as close as what your standard is."
"If there is nothing else, then I'll leave now. See you guys tomorrow." Han Yiyeong places Sehyun down and she goes to get her belongings, slinging it on her shoulder before she leaves the apartment.
SeJeong plops himself down on the couch as he rests after a session of hide-and-seek. "I am so exhausted after playing hide-and-seek, I haven't played in a long time." He clearly told me that he hated playing hide-and-seek because it is too childish for him and he would rather play badminton instead.
The younger one followed what SeJeong did and he sat close to SeJeong. "Me too! I have played hide-and-seek a lot of times with my friends in kindergarten but it is not as fun as I play with SeJeong hyung and Yiyeong Omma."
Again with him calling him as if she is his mother... "SeJeong, your badminton tournaments are coming up soon and I don't want you to get injured before then, you do know that you will be disqualified if you are injured and you will not be able to play for the rest of the season. This will be the last time that you will be playing hide-and-seek and you are too old for that game either."
His face was sunken with disbelief and he simply nodded. "Got it, Abeoji... You are right, it wouldn't be right that I get injured playing such a childish game." He got off the couch. "Then I would go to bed after doing my homework, I see you again in the morning." He walked off to his room and slammed the door shut.
I turned towards the other son that I have. "And you, Bang Sehyun... You mustn't get too close to Han Yiyeong, she is going to be like your mother and she is going to hurt you."
Like what she did to me, women are all the same, they break promises like nothing and they don't care if you get hurt or not. All they know is that they will benefit from it and you don't.
