I paced around my office, my phone near my ears as I listened to the babysitter explain herself, about the big mistake that she has just done. A few minutes ago, I had finished one of my last meetings of the day before I returned home to my family who longed to see me for the entire day.
I came back to my office to find out that my phone was flooded with notifications from a few people, the babysitter, SeNa, Sejeong and an unknown number. I sometimes chose to leave my phone in the office while I attend my meetings, it helps to get things off my mind for a while as I put all of my focus on the meetings and the presentations that I would have to sit through. It is my preference to do that when I want to focus more on work and not on my family matters where I should be doing that after working hours.
My phone started ringing and it was from the babysitter, she has been calling my phone for more than 20 times as what I have checked earlier. I picked up the call and I heard desperate cries from the other end of the line.
"Mr Bang, thank goodness... You have finally picked up the call, where were you all this while? I have been trying to reach you for the past 15 minutes."
"I was in a meeting and I left my phone on the table all this while, I am now leaving the office and I should be leaving work in another 30 minutes."
I notified her of my whereabouts in case she wants to know about it. "Is there anything wrong?""SeHyun has been taken away by someone!" She cried. "He has been taken away by someone dangerous!"
I feel my legs getting wobbly and I couldn't stand straight at all, my heart is aching so much that I can't think properly. What in the world?
"What exactly happened?" My heart skipped a heart and is now pounding really hard as I continue to think of any possibilities scenarios that Sehyun might be in now. "When did that happen?"
"It didn't happen not too long ago, I brought Sehyun to the convenience store because he was a good boy and he wanted to have some ice cream. When I was there, there was a suspicious woman who came up to the both of us all of a sudden and threatened me to give Sehyun to her. She was very strong and she pulled Sehyun to her, Sehyun cried and cried but I couldn't do anything, she was too scary." Are women like wrestlers these days?
I bit my bottom lip. "And you just let her go like that? Did you call the police yet?"
"No, I haven't. You were the first that I had called because of this matter."
I cleared my throat and inhaled deeply. "Come to my office right now and we will discuss more it." I hung up the call and there was a knock on the office door.
I turned around and it was my secretary. "Sajangnim, you have a visitor! She is looking for you frantically." She is sure fast...
I waited for her arrival but it is not the face that I have been looking forward to, it is someone that I have seen once. She is the Neighbor that just moved in yesterday and she was the one who took care of Sehyun, why is she here? Sehyun is also cuddled in her embrace as she makes her way towards me with a tired look on her face, her forehead crinkled with sweat and her eyes filled with desperation.
"Why are you here? And with Sehyun, what is your motive in bringing him here?" I asked looking at her suspiciously, she looked rather sincere yesterday after she returned back my son to me. I know that it is partially my fault that I didn't pick up Sehyun and she was just there at the moment to take care of Sehyun on my behalf but I don't know what is she doing here with my child today.
"I... Did you hire a babysitter, right? She ain't good in her work at all, she abused SeHyun." She stated, putting Sehyun down on a couch. "She pinched him and he was crying, it was at the convenience store where I saw that happen."
"But the babysitter said that you were the one at fault, not her. She called me a few minutes ago before you arrived here carrying my son, she said that you were the one who threatened her to give Sehyun to you and you took him away from her when she is supposed to be taking care of her." I tilted my head to the side. "How do I know that you are telling the truth?"
"Are you being suspicious of me right now?" She asked, sounding a little angry at my claim. "I took care of Sehyun last night and nothing happened to him, there is no way that I would abuse him. It is true that she isn't doing the job that she is hired for, it doesn't mean that every babysitter would do their job well."
She's right, I'm just trusting the babysitter completely based on the stereotype that all babysitters are good at taking care of children. "I... I will wait for her to come so that both sides of the situation would come to light."
"It better be." She waited with her arms crossed over one another. "Just to let you know that I never lie about the things that I did right and I don't tolerate things that are untrue."
The babysitter comes rushing in frantically and she immediately comes for the neighbour, grabbing her collar tightly. "There you are! How dare you take him away without my permission!" She was holding a little too tightly that the neighbour isn't even speaking a word, she was turning a little blue. "I got paid to do my job, not for you to take him away whenever you want to. It is against the rules."
"Stop it!" I pulled her away from the neighbour and she could finally breathe, I think that the babysitter seems more like a wrestler than this woman who is petite and small. "Sajangnim, she is the one who took away Sehyun. She was the one who pinched the child."
"As if. I saw what happened at the convenience store earlier, you are the one who did all that and you were shouting loudly to the poor kid. That only stopped when he saw me, he ran to me and hugged me tightly."
"Who are you anyway? You are too young for the CEO, you can't be his wife." She asks, completing violating my last piece of respect for a human being, she is invading my privacy. "Don't tell me that you are his mistress--"
That's it, I'm done with babysitters... "Miss, you are fired. I don't want to use your services anymore as you violated the rules."
"What? I'm just stating the fact, sehyun said that she was his second mother and I assumed that she was your--"
I cut her off once again, pointing my finger at the door. "Out, I don't want to see your face anymore. You will receive your payment at the end of today, thank you for taking care of my children." The woman looked at me one last time before stomping off badly out of my office.
Maybe I should just take care of them of myself but I don't have the time to do that... I looked towards the other woman in the office with a grateful look on my face and she stared back at me. "Now you know what I am saying about right?"
Now I know where I have seen her before, it is not at her doorstep last night. I first saw her at the roadside, where I saved her from that car accident which might as well ended her life that very day.
