I sat huddled in the corner of the private jet, my eyes narrowed at the brothers closer to the front. I tried to put up a fight when they led me away from the function, but the moment I did, my father was standing there. He stared at me with a look cold enough to freeze boiling water, which immediately made me obey.

The brothers ushered me to a slick black car, allowing me to slide in first. It seemed chivalrous from the outside, but I knew they were just making sure I didn't run.

After a twenty minute drive in utter silence, we arrived at an airport. They walked me down the taxiway to a pearly white airplane and let me walk up the stairs into the vast space within. There were big leather chairs lining either side, and a large couch in the back that looked like it could fold out into a bed. Directly behind the couch was a door, which I could only assume led to a bathroom or a bedroom of some sort.

I sat down on the couch in the back and crossed my arms over my chest, glaring at them to keep them away. It wasn't the glare that kept them away, I knew. But they sat down in the front, pulling open laptops and ignoring me completely - which was completely fine with me. I didn't want their damn attention.

I looked out the window as the pilot walked into the cabin to say hello to the brothers. He barely even spared me a glance. But when he did, the brothers muttered something too quiet for me to hear and he took his leave.

I did figure out, however, that the white-haired man was named Keon and his brother was Cayson. They didn't introduce themselves. Then again, I didn't expect them to. They just purchased me for their own selfish desires, and I wasn't going to give into them. It was as simple as that. I'd relieve myself. I didn't care how bad it hurt when it finally came.

The plane ride lasted two hours, and I kept my eyes pinned outside the entire time. I felt the brothers looking at me occasionally, but they didn't say anything.

When the plane finally landed in God-knows-where, I didn't stand up right away. I watched the brothers curiously as they packed up their laptops and readied themselves to exit the plane.

"Where are we," I finally asked, my voice making me cringe. It had been so silent the entire ride, I wasn't used to voices.

Cayson glanced back at me. "Home."

I narrowed my eyes. "Yeah, cool. But where's home at?"

Keon smirked slightly and hefted his bag over his shoulder. They didn't offer an explanation of any sort; they just stared at me until I stood up and made my way over to them. They then exited the plane, forcing me to exit behind them - once again, I believed this to be a maneuver to make sure I didn't up and run once my feet hit the concrete. There was no way they just trusted me to obey, even with my ranking.

There was another slick black vehicle waiting only a few yards away from where the plane landed. They let me in, then sat on either side of me, even though there was another bench seat right across from us.

Once we started moving, Keon looked at me. "One month is all we ask, Phoenix. You stay with us for one month, and if you still hate it, you can leave. We'll pay for a ticket to wherever you want to go."

I looked at him from the corner of my eye. "I won't want to stay."

I realized they wanted to keep me through my first heat. If they thought they'd get into my head that way, they were wrong. I wasn't sure how it felt to go through my heat, but I knew I didn't want to turn to them. I'd lock myself in a room and deal with it on my own terms if I was able.

Cayson leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees, then propped his head up with his hands. He turned his gaze to me, staring deep within me like he knew my darkest secrets.
