I stared up at Seth, my lips curled down into a frown as he grinned. It had been a week since I told Keon and Cayson that I wanted to be the one to kill Tracy, and they somehow expected that, after a week, I'd be able to fight Seth of all people.
I moved my body to look behind him, where Theo stood.
"Why not Theo?" Theo wouldn't just throw me to the ground. Seth? Heck, I'm sure he'd do it just for the giggles.
"Oh, hon," Theo said, widening his eyes dramatically, "I'd prefer to stand on the sidelines and cheer for whoever is winning."
"Also," Keon crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair, "Seth is stronger than my mother. Fight him, and legitimately win, and you'll be fine."
We were in the backyard, Keon and Cayson sitting on the sidelines, and Theo standing off to the side to watch. All three of them had a drink in their hands and were watching me like I was somehow going to take down Seth with the little training I got from the brothers.
Seth was still grinning. "Are you going to attack me, or stand there looking helpless?"
They also gave Seth the go-ahead to do as he wished with me. So if he felt like he seriously wanted to punch me, he was allowed to.
I pursed my lips. There was no way I'd be able to fight Seth. He was over a head taller than me, and was broader than I'd ever be. Even though he wasn't bulky, he did have muscle definition, where I had nothing.
"I can attack you," he said, tilting his head ever so slightly, "if you want."
"I know how quickly you move." He had me on the ground so quickly a week before when Savvy tried to kill me, that I knew I couldn't allow him time to attack me.
His eyes narrowed, but his smile stayed in place.
Then he was in front of me, grabbing my wrists and twisting them up above my head. My feet left the ground and I kicked him in the side, to which he only snorted in laughter.
"Harder," he whispered.
So I kicked even harder, and he actually flinched. The moment of euphoria from actually hurting him lasted a whole two milliseconds before he had me on the ground.
"Now what," he asked, one hand pinning my wrists to the ground above my head, and the other wrapped gently around my throat.
I couldn't move. He was between my legs and had my thighs spread too far for me to be able to do much of anything, unless I wanted to wrap my legs around him. I didn't think Keon or Cayson would appreciate that much.
I looked to Keon for help, but he only raised an eyebrow.
They wouldn't do a damn thing unless Seth made a move to do something sexual towards me, would they?
"Wrap your legs around my waist and squeeze," Seth instructed. "Doing that will usually knock a person off balance enough for you to be able to get an arm free."
I raised my eyebrows. Usually was the key word. Seth was expecting it.
But I did what I was told and quickly squeezed my legs around him, and he did loosen his hold a bit. So I tore an arm free and slammed a fist into his side.
His face twisted and he rolled off of me and onto the grass on my right side. "Where'd you get that much strength, little one?"
I rolled until I straddled him, and his hands immediately came up and grasped my hips.
Keon made an aggravated noise, and Seth's hands immediately dropped away from me. It was a part of the agreement between the three of them. He wasn't allowed to touch me unless it was a part of the training, even if that move had been subconscious.
Cayson glanced down to his cell phone, then stood and walked away, waving for us to continue.
I threw my fist down at Seth's face, but he moved his head so quickly that I froze, my hand so close to the grass. He stared up at me, grinning wickedly, his eyes glowing.
"Excited," I asked.
He snorted and I threw my other hand down, but I moved the first hand to keep his head in place. But he, much stronger than I'd probably ever be, moved his hand up and caught my fist. His hand tightened around mine and he flung me, not gently, off of him.
I rolled and slid to a stop a foot away from Keon.
"You're having an alpha train an omega how to fight?"
I tilted my chin up to look at the new, familiar voice.
Teo.
I rolled onto hands and knees before pushing myself up to my feet. I wiped dirt off of my clothes - which didn't help in the least with the grass stains.
"Smart," he finally said, crossing arms over his chest.
Cayson motioned towards Teo. "I had questions. He wanted to see you."
I watched as the doctor walked towards me. He nodded a hello to Seth and Theo before he got to me. I craned my neck up to look at him.
"Sorry," was all he said before he grabbed me by the throat and lifted me up off the ground.
I wrapped my hands around his wrist and stared at him incredulously, even as all of my air seemed to be cut off from my lungs.
"Hey!" I heard Theo running towards me.
Teo tilted his head and glanced at Theo, and the running stopped. Everything stopped. No one breathed. No one made a move to help.
Finally, the week of training hit and I swung my foot out and slammed it against his chest, even as my nails clawed into his wrist. Unlike Seth, and the few times I fought against Keon and Cayson, he didn't flinch. He just looked up at me with that ominous glow behind his eyes.
I kicked again and again, struggling against his grip around my throat.
I bore my teeth at him, and his eyes slightly widened.
Everything became fuzzy, and a feeling of being violated overcame my entire body. It was like someone was looking in every single corner of my mind, every single area of my insides. Checking, probing. Never once asking for entry. Just taking it.
Small fingers pressed at my brain, and a pain exploded behind my eyes.
I heard growling, felt it rip from my throat. All of a sudden, I was kneeling over Teo, my hand around his throat.
The doctor actually looked scared.
"Don't probe my fucking brain," I hissed. "Who gave you that right?"
He raised his hands in surrender.
"Phoenix," Cayson said.
I pulled my hand away from Teo's throat and fell back, staring at him wide-eyed. How the hell had I gotten on top of him? Why was I choking him? Wasn't he just choking me?
Teo sat up and stared at me like I was something he really, really, wanted to study.
Seth and Theo stared at me like I grew two heads, but the brothers just stared at Teo expectedly, like he knew what exactly just happened.
"What were you doing," I asked.
Teo tilted his head in that odd way of his and scanned my entire body in one quick movement. "Probing your fucking brain, as you said."
"And?" That was Keon.
Teo's eyes never left mine. "I think you're right. I think she is part alpha."
