Top alphas. The first thing to pop up on a search engine was: Top Alphas - Monsters Among Us.
My eyebrows furrowed and I clicked the link. I know the two of them said to remain ignorant, but I wanted to understand. And the fact that most of the links associated them with monsters was enough to pique my interest even more.
'Stop,' a voice, I'd come to associate with Teo, spoke into my mind.
I slammed the lid to my laptop closed and looked up, seeing Teo in the doorway to the kitchen.
We rented a small house for the few days that we'd be in the United States. There were enough bedrooms for all of us, and the basic amenities for daily life.
"Why is it that you're so hesitant for me to know?" I tapped my fingers on my laptop.
"The first sentence in that article you were about to read says top alphas are monsters in need of institutionalization." He slid his hands into his pockets. "I've read every single one of those articles as they've come out. None of them catch even the slightest truth of what a top alpha is."
"Then why don't you write something," I asked, motioning towards my laptop.
He only stared at me. I wondered idly what he was thinking, but the moment I wondered if my prying was hurting him, he turned away and left me to my own devices once again.
Eventually I'd figure out what being a top alpha meant, and why they hated bringing it up. But if all sites would lead to them being horrible monsters, I couldn't find out through a simple Google search. I'd either have to ask the source - which both sources I knew of didn't want anything to do with me regarding that subject - or I'd have to find something else out.
I think my sudden need to know stemmed from the fact that they're looked upon like outcasts, much like omegas. The only difference is, unless you witnessed it first hand, you wouldn't know a top alpha on sight. Omegas were so easy to spot and scent.
Keon stepped into the kitchen and looked at me. "Come here."
I stood immediately and went to his side. He slipped his arms around my body and pulled me to him, placing his mouth by my ear. No words were spoken, but the breath he let out caused me to shiver and the scent of roses to strengthen in the room.
He grinned. "Now, now. We wouldn't want you getting your heat with all these other alphas in the house."
I pulled away from him and narrowed my eyes. "Then don't do that."
He winked. "Your curiosity is stressing Teo out."
Why? Because I wanted to know how there is another tier and what it entailed? Did he honestly think I would look the other way? Especially after seeing how much it bothered him?
When Seth walked in, he took one look at me, then at Keon, then back at Cayson who was following close behind. He glanced down at the laptop in front of me, closed but still running.
A small smirk appeared on his face. "Nosey little bugger, aren't you?"
Cayson slid in and went to the stove to start making dinner. "She's always been curious. Theo?"
Theo appeared and went to help without any more instruction. He seemed a lot happier ever since he and Marcus started secretly dating. From what I could tell, it was still a secret to everyone else except for me. Seth didn't even seem to know, which was odd since the two of them lived together.
"Come here," Seth finally said, a sigh escaping his lips. When Keon and Cayson glared at him, he raised his eyebrows. "And before you two think I'm going to go and rape her, keep in mind I do, in fact, like my dick the way it is. I wouldn't risk it on a mated female."
