I didn't regret mating with them. Quite the opposite. A part of me, that felt so empty for so long, was finally full. And I knew they loved me. Of course they did. But I don't think they knew what it meant to be mated to an omega.

They thought they had it all mapped out. Lose their jobs? No problem. Be hated? Like they'd care, they would still be alphas. But a past love coming after their mate? Who would guess?

I opened the window to my room and breathed in the night air. It was starting to get chilly out during the night. Not enough for a jacket, but enough to make it obvious that fall was just around the corner.

I looked down. The ground was far, but not terribly so. So I swung my legs out and jumped, making sure I rolled when I hit the ground. Even then, I rolled and fell onto my back, breathing heavily.

"What are you doing?"

I jumped up so quickly I barely remembered moving. I faced the voice, and saw Seth staring down at me.

He had his hands stuffed into his jeans pockets and he slowly tilted his head, his eyes gleaming slightly in the dark. He looked like a cat, with the way his eyes reflected any source of light.

"I'm," I started. I waved my arms at the surrounding area. "I'm going on a walk."

"By yourself?" His eyebrows rose. "After what happened today?"

I pursed my lips. He had a point.

"How do you know what happened today," I asked, crossing my arms indignantly.

His face went stoic and he stared at me, seemingly unimpressed. "Theo heard you screaming at them."

I grumbled and turned away from him. When I began walking, I heard a second pair of feet start walking as well.

I couldn't get one minute alone, could I?

"Are you going to tell them," I asked.

He caught up to me no problem. "No. Unless you want me to."

I didn't want him to. If anything, I wanted him to deny seeing me and go somewhere else. Being alone was something I craved, even though in the past all I wanted was someone to talk to when no one else would even look in my direction.

"They'll figure it out eventually," he finally said.

"Maybe." I looked up at the sky and stopped walking.

I didn't even know where I was going. The house was somewhere behind us, and in front of us was a road that seemed to stretch on for miles.

Seth stopped beside me.

"You have a lot to learn about those two." He looked up at the sky also. "They noticed how upset it made you. They'll do something."

Do something? I wanted to laugh, but couldn't bring myself to. All I ever wanted was to be happy. That's it. And for a few moments at a time, I got that. Though, like usual, something came and ruined it.

Silence fell once again, and Seth remained standing. Ever the silent companion.

He sniffed, and his eyes flared so bright so quickly it was like whiplash. His head jerked to the right and just like that, I was on the ground just as an explosion rang through the air.

"Fuck," he growled, covering my body with his own.

His eyes shone brighter and he looked at the house, a crease of concentration between his brow. As quickly as the crease appeared, it disappeared and he looked back down to me.

"Are you hurt?"

I wasn't breathing. I couldn't.

"W-what," I stuttered.
