When they told me that their father and Cayson's mother was coming to visit, I immediately tensed. If they were anything like Keon's mother, I didn't want to meet them. I didn't want anything to do with them.
When I offered to remain in my room, Cayson shook his head and pulled me behind him. He, nor Keon, offered an explanation. They just pulled me to their room and sat me down.
Cayson pulled out one of the dresses they bought me - the black one with red flowers. I blinked in confusion when he pulled it from the closet, like it belonged there. Like my things belonged in their closet.
"Here," he said, holding the dress out. "As much as I hate to admit it, our father likes when women dress up."
I took the dress and held it in front of me, waiting for them to leave the room so I could change. When they didn't, I pursed my lips and sat the dress down on the bed. I unbuttoned my pants and the growls that emanated through the room made me pause with my thumbs ready to pull the pants down over my hips.
When I glanced up, they were both staring at me, eyes glowing ever so slightly.
"You weren't leaving," I explained.
Keon clenched his eyes shut like he was trying to control himself. Cayson nibbled on his full lower lip, watching my hands like he would watch a magician to see if he could see how the magic was done.
"Your trust in us astounds me," Cayson murmured, his eyes flicking up to meet mine. "Keep in mind, we're both men and you are our mate. We can only harbor so much self control."
I didn't say anything, but Keon's eyes snapped open and he growled at me. It wasn't scary, per say. It was just a tad intimidating.
My hands hadn't moved, but I figured I knew what he was growling at.
Cayson's eyes closed and he breathed out. "We should go, Keon."
I raised an eyebrow.
Keon made a noise that sounded like a whine, but the noise made my breath hitch. It was deep, guttural, and primal. It wasn't a high pitched whine like a child would make. It was the noise of a man slowly losing his control.
I knew Keon had less self control than his brother. Keon was easily angered, whereas his brother remained calm through strenuous situations.
"Tell us to go," Keon said.
I was frozen stiff. A part of me was screaming at me to tell them to leave. But the other part - the part that wanted to love them and wanted to be with them - told me to remain silent.
The longer I remained silent, the brighter their eyes glowed. The brighter their eyes glowed, the more I wanted to tell them to go. But that was my fight or flight sense kicking over to flight, as it usually did.
"Phoenix," Cayson warned.
I could see them clench their jaws. Every breath they took seemed like it was a struggle to stay in control.
If I didn't tell them to go, I knew what would happen. I knew they'd have me on that bed in a matter of seconds. Would they ask me if I was ok with it? Or would they just take me as they wished? They said that they'd never force themselves on me, but what if they lost control?
I didn't want to test it.
I nodded towards the door. "Go on. I'll be out after I change."
And just like that, they listened. The glow didn't lessen behind their eyes, but they both turned and walked out of the room - rather stiffly, but they went.
I changed quickly, throwing off my clothes and switching over to the dress. Normally, I didn't care for dresses, but this one was soft and hung at just the right place. It hugged my upper body and made me look like I had curves, even on my small frame.
