The alpha stared at me with incredibly green eyes, his right leg in between both of mine. He leaned forward and watched my pupils dilate and expand as he moved a light in front of my eyes. Every move he made was fluid and oddly sensual, and the fact that his knee was halfway up my thighs didn't do much to make my heartrate lessen.
He had perfect blonde hair, shaved except for a small amount of bangs that whisked over his eyes. In the perfect lighting, it casted a shadow over them, and the glow emanating through those irises would shine brighter.
They'd been glowing since the moment I walked in. It wasn't enough to cause Keon and Cayson to worry though. They just introduced me to him, said he'd "figure it all out", and left me with him.
The guy hadn't said a word to me since I walked in. No hello, no sit down or do as I say, nothing. He just looked somewhere and I moved.
His name was Teo, and he was Keon and Cayson's boss. He was also head of the lab, head of the doctors, and apparently owned the whole damn hospital.
He rolled away from me on his chair and typed something out on his tablet. Then he glanced up at me, eyed me curiously, then looked back down.
Teo was, for lack of a better term, beautiful. Most alphas were, but he...he was different, somehow. He held himself differently than most alphas.
He rolled back over before standing. He grabbed my arm and straightened it out before pressing two fingers to the crook in my elbow.
"You have good veins."
I blinked at him. That was the first thing he was going to say to me for the forty minutes that I'd been in the room with him? I have good veins? Great. I was so happy that my veins were in tip top shape.
He looked up at me through his long lashes. "I'm going to take a blood sample."
"No thank you," I said immediately.
His lip quirked slightly. "You don't have a choice, Phoenix."
I shrunk away from his gaze and looked away. I wished I could have said something witty, but my mind blanked and I just let him do what he needed to do. The only reason we were even in that situation was for me to figure out why my heat was so potent. I'd have to go through multiple tests in the next few hours. Teo told Keon and Cayson that he would figure out why, but he'd have to be alone with me.
For what reason, I had no damn clue.
He grabbed black gloves and put them on slowly before grabbing a needle, an alcohol swab, and gauze.
When he reached me, he lifted my arm and positioned it at his hip, pinning it there with his own strong arm.
His scent was way too powerful and strong.
"Don't look," he murmured after the alcohol dried on my skin.
No sooner did I feel a prick of pain and I felt my heart jump in my chest. I was never a fan of pain.
I looked down at the needle and the blood pouring into the tubes and suddenly became lightheaded.
He looked over at me from the corner of his eye. "I told you not to look."
"You're an asshole," I said.
"I know." He slid the needle out of my skin and placed a square of gauze onto the bleeding area. "Hold this."
I did as I was told and watched as he walked the blood over to the counter with his tablet. He moved silently, picking up a tube and putting it in a machine. Then moved onto the next.
