I was only allowed into Ash's room when the doctor was done and his family was done with their visit.  I was happy when the doctor told me he was going to be ok.  Ash would just have to be put on bed rest for the next few weeks.

Just until his leg had healed.  I thanked the doctor and opened the door.  I took a deep breath and hoped my face wasn't too much of a give away.  Ash was leaning against the head board as I closed the door.  As it clicked closed Ash looked over.  He smiled.  "Hey."  I said.  Hey?  Really?  That's it?  Talk about pathetic.  Your susposed to let him think that everything's ok.  Remember Storm, stress is not good for him like this.

"Hey, Storm."  His voice was broken.  I walked over to stand next to his bed.  "How's everything with everyone else."  His joking tone was still there.  It made me smile.  "I wanted to thank you.  For what you did."  I took a deep breath.  I let my hand rest on the covers.  "You saved my life, Ash.  If you hadn't been there, I don't know what that rouge would have done.  You didn't have to protect me like you did."  My voice was as normal sounding as I could make it.

Ash frowned.  "Didn't have too?  Storm, if I hadn't done anything that rouge could have killed you.  I didn't want you to get hurt.  Besides, it's not that bad."  He started to get up, his face distorting as he tried to hide the pain.  I put my hand on Ash's chest.  He looked at my hand and then my face.  "Don't try to get up.  Ash, your hurt.  You need to heal and get some bed rest."  He leaned back against the headboard.

"I won't let anything happen to you Storm.  I'll try to help you till my last breath.  That's a promise..."  His sentences drifted off as he slumped deeper against the headboard.  Poor Ash.   I thought.  I carefully laid him down on the bed and pulled the cover up so that he would stay warm.  As I brushed his bangs away from his eyes, warmth spread through me.  I smiled, then tilted my head.

What was that?  My thoughts sounded different.  I shrugged.  Whispering "I know you will, but you don't have to get yourself killed for me Ash."   I turned around and left the room.  "I want...to."  I turned my head to see his eyes opened slightly.  I smiled back and closed the door.  Walking out of the building, I saw Eric and Evan waiting for me.

"Hey look.  It's the traitor."  Eric took a step towards me and bared his teeth.  "Yeah, heard that you made a rouge attack Alpha Jace's kid.  You're gonna get it."  Evan stood next to Eric.  Alpha Jace's kid?  Wait... Ash is Alpha's pup?  I looked towards the trees and made a run for it.  I heard Eric's and Evan's hollers as they ran after me.

What are you doing?  Don't run from those two jerks, turn around and face them.  The new voice shocked me.  I tripped on a branch but caught myself before I fell face first into the mud.  "Who said that?"  I whispered.  I did.  I'm your wolf side.  My name's Sapphire.  Nice to finally meet you Storm.  The voice was inside my head.  I yelped and fell down the hill.

As I stood up I dashed under the tree line.  I climbed a large fir and sat on a branch.  "My wolf?"  My voice was too loud.  You don't have to talk out loud.  I can hear your thoughts.  Oh, I didn't know that.  Sorry.  I thought.  There was a soft yawn.  Well, I'm going to take a nap.  Talk to you later Storm.  I could envision her curling up and going to sleep.  I waited in the tree until I heard footsteps coming closer.

There was a growl.  I looked down to see a white wolf pacing around the tree I was in.  I whined quietly to myself.  Ugh, stupid, stupid, stupid.  I hadn't been paying much attention as I should have been when I ran.  I must have gone into another packs territory accident.  Now one of their guard was down there.

But they were a white wolf, a pure white coat on a wolf shifter was rare.  "Get down here, or I'll bring you down myself."  The voice was harsh.  I looked down to see a man there now.  Three or so more men and one wolf seemed to come out of nowhere.  I gulped.  Climbing down slowly, I faced the group.  The one who had spoken stepped towards me.

He grabbed my hair and pulled it.  "Why are you in our territory pup?  Don't you know better than to roam?"  His voice was harsh but familiar at the same time.  "I-I didn't know I was in your territory.  P-please just let me go.  I-I'll leave."  My voice was shaking uncontrollably.

The others laughed.  The man gripping my hair pulled harder.  "You think I believe you?  Rouges don't have territories.  I'll ask you again.  WHY are you in our territory?"  He yanked my hair.  I whined slightly.  "I didn't know I was in another packs territory.  I'm not a rouge."  The grip on my hair was released.  Now the man grabbed my arms, pressing them to mysides.  "Lies.  You are a rouge.  Now WHY are you in this territory?"  He screamed the second word.  I felt tears prick my eyes.

I'm telling the truth.  "I'm not lying.  I-I'm not a rouge.  I was running f-from two other boys from my pack.  They were chasing me.  I-I fell down the hill.   I climbed up the tree to s-stay away from them."  My voice was shaking so much, I couldn't see through the tears.  One arm was let go.  I felt the bandages being torn off.  I yelped as I felt one of theirs nails dig into my skin.  I cried out as the blood ran down my arm.

"I'm taking you to our Alpha.  He'll decide what to do with you."  I tried to fight back as they dragged me further away from the invisible boarder.  I couldn't see where they took me because of the tears.
