Storm's POV

I kept running, even when the trail slowed down.  I only slowed down when I saw the opening where the others were waiting.  I skidded to a stop, having not slowed down enough.  Jacob was still shifted and came over.  My nails had made furrows in the grass and dirt when I dug them into the ground.  I could tell Jacob was worried, but why was he?  Did something happen?  He asked me in a mind link.  No, why?  I responded.  I felt my head tilting slightly.  You howled a second time.  He replied.  I lowered my head slightly.

I hadn't thought about that.  I didn't mean for you to get worried.  I thought softly.  Jacob put his muzzle under my head, making me lift it.  What happened?  He asked again.  I was just having fun.  That was the longest and fastest I've ever run.  It was fun.  I didn't think you would get worried.  I explained.  I heard someone sigh.  It was Sarah, she must have been in the mind link too.  "That at least makes sense."  She said.  "What?"  Sam asked.  Sarah shook her head.  "Nothing bad had happened.  Storm loves running apparently."  She explained.  Sam nodded.  I heard Eva and Cam laugh.

Jacob walked away to shift back.  I walked over and laid down under a tree.  I didn't want to shift right now.  Jacob came back, not appearing to see me at first.  Cam had to point over in my direction.  You would think my white fur would make me more noticeable in the shade.  Jacob seemed to see me and walked over.  He smiled.  "I thought you were going to shift."  He said in a joking voice.  I lifted my shoulders and let them drop in a shrug.

Jake laughed.  His laughed was like music.  It made me feel like everything was going to be okay.  Jacob sat down, leaning against my side.  I let my head rest on top of my front paws.  A shutter went off, making me look around.  Cam and Eva were holding Eva's phone.  "Cute."  Eva said.  I half growled, still not liking photos being taken of me at all.  Especially without my consent.  "You better delete that!"  Jake said.  Eva laughed.  "But you two look so cute together."  Sam countered.  When did he start acting like Eva?  Something clicked.  They're mates.  I thought.

Jacob heard me through our mind link.  "Of course..."  He said sarcastically.  "Mates or not, you had better delete that!"  Jacob said quickly.  Eva stuck her tongue out.  I half growled, not really wanting to get up.  Jake got up, letting me as well.  Sam and Eva smiled and ran.  "I'll take him, you grab her."  Jake said.  I nodded, going to follow Eva's scent.  Eva was running, but still laughing.  I picked up sped, sprinting after her.  She was only jogging.  I caught up to her easily.

I jumped and knocked Eva to the ground.  It wasn't hard enough for her to get hurt.  Eva was laughing harder.  "Okay, I'm dead.  Happy now?"  She said.  I got off her, barking in a playful way.  Eva got up and rolled her eyes.  She walked back to the others.  Jacob came back with Sam a few seconds later.  "Hah, you guys got beat by two girls."  Eva said.  I barked a laugh.

Jacob and Sam half growled.  Eva and I shared a look.  I created a mind link between us.  Want to see if guys are really faster than girls?  I asked her.  Eva nodded.  Let's give them a run for their dignity.  She replied.  Jake and Sam seemed to be thinking the same thing.  "We'll give you too a three minute head start."  Sam said.  Eva laughed, I barked out one.  Everyone looked at Sarah.

She looked like she was about to burst out laughing.  "Go ahead.  I'd like to see this."  She said, laughing slightly.  Eva went over to the bushes to shift.  Let's lead them away and then loop around to the mountain.  You follow the trail and I'll go from the opposite side.  I'm pretty sure I saw a cave on my way up.  Eva said.  I nodded.  Jacob and Sam left the shift.  Cam came over.  "The winners get bragging rights and the losers have to clean up afterwards."  He said.  In a few minutes, four wolves were ready.  Sarah played a whistle sound on her phone.  "Go!"  She shouted.

Me and Eva dug our nails into the ground and shot forward.  Her brown wolf was slightly smaller than mine.  Split up now.  She told me.  Eva continued to follow the trail.  I made a turn left and took the chance to roll down a small slope.  Confusing the scents.  Sneaky Storm.  Sapphire said to me.  I barked a small laugh.  I heard another whistle go off, Jake and Sam were running now.  I picked up my pace and started heading towards the mountain.

I let Jake in the link.  This is a first.  He thought.  I barked another laugh.  Yeah, it'll be funny seeing your face when I win.  I taunted him.  I heard and felt his light growl.  I cut the link off.  Eva opened our link.  Here.  Where's the cave?  She asked.  I started climbing the mountain while in its shadow.  Go over to the shadow.  It'll be halfway down.  Look carefully or follow me scent.  You can't see it unless you know where it is.  I told her.  I heard a howl.  Sam and Jake were close.

I saw Eva.  The cave entrance was in the side of the wall.  Eva had rolled down a hill as well.  Looks like great minds think alike.  She thought.  I nodded, walking towards the back of the cave.  When I shifted for the first time, it wasn't in my pack's camp.  I rolled in mud to hide my coat colouring and confuse my scent.  I thought that trick would work again.  I explained.  Eva nodded.

I turned and laid down so black fur was facing the cave entrance.  Eva sat to my left.  The cave was large enough for only three shifted wolves to be in, and have some room to move.  About twently non-shifted members might be able to fit.  Eva and I listened as Jacob and Sam got within a few feet of the cave entrance.  Unfortunately for them, they left their mind link open.

No both hid their scents and climbed up.  The trail from before is making it even more confusing dude.  Sam thought.  I heard a huff.  I saw Storm climbing up here.  Let's go up top.  Maybe we can see them from there.  Jake told him.  They both used the small ledge near the cave entrance to climb higher.  Eva and I exchanged looks.  Once we were sure the boys were on the top, I stood up.  I opened Eva's and I's mind link.  Let's go farther out.  I thought.

Eva nodded.  We carefully left and jumped down little by little.  I opened the joint mind link the boys had.  I see them.  Sam thought.  That's our cue!  I said, brusting into a run as soon as my paws hit the ground.  Hey, you two were in our link.  Jake growled.  I barked a laugh.  You should have noticed.  You two even passed us up on the mountain.  Eva taunted.  Sam growled.  Eva and I went seprate ways again.  I found the plains again and ran as fast as I could.  I heard Jacob coming behind me.

He was farther back.  I was faster than him?  I slowed down just a little, we were reaching the edge of the boarder.

I made a turn and started sprinting along the boarder before heading back towards the mountain.  Jacob yipped from behind me.  I slowed down a little bit more, running out of breath.  I felt something tackle me.  We rolled to a stop.  Gotcha.  A voice growled.  I was under Jake's russet wolf.  He had his paws on either side of me, not on top.  His golden eyes were full of joy.  Fine, you got me.  I allowed.  Jacob barked a small laugh.  I didn't know your wolf was that fast.  He thought.  Jake let me up.  I wasn't using Sapphire's speed.  I thought.  Jacob made a confused sound.  That was your speed?  He asked.

I nodded, tilting my head slightly.  Is that bad?  I thought.  Jake shook his head, pressing his nose to my forehead.  Of course not.  It's amazing.  I've never met anyone who could run faster than me.  He told me.  I nodded.  We better get back.  I said.  Jacob nodded.  We turned and started to sprint back, since we were both breathing heavier than normal.  Sam and Eva hadn't gotten back when we got there.

Sarah smiled.  "Who won?"  She asked.  Jacob yipped once.  Sarah laughed.  You should have seen how far it took for me to catch her.  Jacob thought.  We were at the border.  Jake only won because I slowed down enough for him to catch me.  I added quickly.
