Eyy. Most I've written in weeks!
Nobodies POV
When Jacob went into the room, his blood ran cold. The doctor hadn't been kidding when he said Storm wasn't in good condition. She had an IV in her left arm and an oxygen mask. (You know: the ones that goes around your head and on your nose?) Jacob went over to stand by the bed, growling softly.
He couldn't believe someone from Storm's own pack did this to her. Sure, he wasn't doing it consciously. But still, there was something about a pack that was supposed to mean someone would be safe!
This kind of thing wasn't supposed to happen within the packs' camp! Jacob set his hand on his mates'. "Hang in there Storm. For your family, for your friends... For me." He whined softly. Jacob stayed in the room so long, they thought he was going to sleep in there. But, Jacob knew there was only so much he could do at the moment.
But Jacob stayed in the Moon pack camp. Of course since Storm wasn't of mating age technically yet, only Storm's family, the pack doctor and the Mist pack knew Jacob was her mate. Jacob went to Storm's hospital bed nearly every day, often staying by the bedside for hours at a time.
Sarah and Eva made sure he ate and kept him busy: especially when PJ came back from the Flame pack. They said he was clean from any remnants of the spell put on him. They also agreed the spell originated from the Blood Moon pack. Ash was livid at that piece of news. He'd never been so mad before.
Once Jacob woke up, he got everything to take a shower to get ready. Storm had been in the hospital for three weeks now. She hadn't woken up yet, but did show significant improvement. But something felt very... Off. Different at least. Jacob couldn't place it, but something was definitely different.
Jacob's POV
I feel it too, something's changing. Harry told me. So he couldn't place it either? Weird. We could usually figure out what was wrong between the two of us relatively quickly. Maybe Sarah could help. Of course since it was a Saturday: the Mist pack and Moon pack warriors were doing a morning training course.
I usually joined them, to make sure I knew I wouldn't kill someone. Specifically that 'PJ' guy. Harry wasn't so fond of him either. But what could I say? He hurt our mate, and he could have killed her! Sarah seemed to see me there after a while, so she left Cameron to keep everyone going.
"You're up late today Jacob. Everything settling?" She asked. I forced a stiff nod. Didn't she feel it? Was it just me and Harry who felt it? "You guys don't feel anything... Weird? Not like on the air or something, but a feeling?" I asked. Sarah took a moment to answer.
"Well, I did last night. But it went away, I assume it's worry getting to me. You should stop freaking yourself out. You know Storm's gonna be fine. She's been through so much crap. She's strong. I know she's a fighter, she'd never give up. So you shouldn't either." She said, fixing her ponytail.
I sighed. "I know she's strong, and a fighter. But I can't not worry. It's part of my being to worry about my mate. I'm serious: I feel something. Harry feels it too. Something's gonna change. We should be prepared if there's another attack." I told her. Sarah nodded. "Okay. I'll talk to Alpha Logan about it. You were never wrong before, I'll take your word Jacob." She said, walking over to Cameron.
They spoke for a moment, before the group made their way towards the worn down trail from their runs. Sarah came back. "I'll speak to Storm's parents about a possible attack. You look like you're about to collapse." She said.
I rolled my eyes. "I'll grab something to eat before heading to the hospital." I assured her. Sarah nodded. "Link me with an update when you leave." She said, turning to jog to the pack house. Just so she knew I got something to eat, I swung by the kitchen. The two Omegas for the Moon pack froze when I came in. Geez, that was still annoying. They left, though I'm positive the she-wolf omega stared at me over her shoulder.
I growled sharply at her, making sure she knew to back off. I made a sandwich before grabbing a bottle of water before heading back out. (In case you're wondering, I have not forgotten about Storm's wolf friend Luna. She's back in Mist pack territory) By the time I got to the hospital, I'd finished the sandwich but hadn't opened the water bottle yet.
The pack doctor and the others that worked in the hospital all knew me already, for how often I came in. They didn't even have to ask if I knew where I was going, or who I was seeing. To my displeasure, my mate's door was closed. That meant something had happened and they had taken her to do more tests. Great, just what I needed right now: more reasons to worry.
So I just sat outside the room, thinking about that feeling. It still hadn't gone away. Did that mean the feeling was connected to Storm in some way? It could be that. But I still can't feel Sapphire. She's not responding. It's like she just disappeared. Harry growled in the back of my head. Wait. If Sapphire seemingly disappeared...
Sh*t! That meant Storm wouldn't remember anything about shifters! She won't feel the mate bond as strongly and won't be able to shift! (I know that's probably wrong. I'm just changing things a little to fit the plot line) No. No. NO! That can't happen! She had to remember shifters! Her pack, her friends, her family, her mate!
She won't be safe if she can't shift! I growled softly, mind linking Sarah. Woah. Geez Jacob. I can scent your anger. What the heck happened? She asked, clearly already stressed. Harry just told me Sapphire disappeared. That means Storm won't have her connection to the packs anymore, or her memories. I explained quickly. Sarah growled mentally.
I'll tell her parents. Try finding the doctor to see if they can find out if that's a possibility. She said hurriedly. Sarah cut the mind link off, probably to alert the others to be on alert. A nurse walked back, so I got up. "Where's the doctor?" I half growled, not caring if she was scared of me or not.
She left immediately. I growled, clenching my fists. There was a popping sound (would a water bottle pop or crack? 😅). Right, there goes my water. I just stood there. My jeans were soaked across one pant leg, so most of the water dipped down it.
I didn't really move, trying to sort through everything I knew about a wolf's bond with their person. Which wasn't all that much to begin with. I should have paid attention, but how would I know I would end up needing it?! Eventually I saw the doctor. Guess that she-wolf knew who I meant? "I'm afraid you can't see her right now. Our tests picked up something unusual so we need to check it out." He said calmly.
How could he be so calm!? I growled softly. "There's no way you can be so calm when there's a chance my mate won't remember anything about her life. Her wolf is gone, something must have knocked their connection out of balance. My wolf can't sense her anymore." I told him through my teeth. The doctor looked at me, shocked.
"We hadn't considered that possibility..." He said softly. Are you kidding me?! "You didn't even think of it?" I said coldly. Okay Jacob, chill out. Calm down. This doesn't happen all the time, they wouldn't automatically assume that's what was happening. I told myself.
