Time skip about a year because who wants to read about building the house?
I sat up in my bed. The clock said it was 7:00. I was always up by this time. I threw the blanket off me and jumped out of the bed. I opened the door and peered out into the hall. Nobody was up? Usually Sam or Eve or I would be making breakfast. I smiled to myself and snuck back into my room.
I reached under my bed and grabbed the phone Sarah had given my secretly. Just a month into being here, Sarah gave me a phone. She said that her number and everyone else's number were already there. I had a few photos. Even one of Luna.
Luna would be near full grown by now.
It was after she came back with another note from Jake. I still had the first note, hidden in a black bag in my duffle bag which was in my closet. I went onto the recording app and clicked one of them. A low alarm went off. It was a good thing I had the volume down. I had recorded one of the times Sam had burned something. I turned the volume all the way up and slunk back into the hall. I went into Cam's room.
His door was already slightly ajar. I snuck in and made sure the volume was up. I clicked the button and the blaring alarm filled the room. I held back a laugh as Cam jumped up and off his bed. He was wearing nothing but a pair of pink undies. I laughed. "CAM WEARS PINK UNDERWEAR!" I screamed as I ran out of his room. Cam, only just now realizing it was a joke, growled. "Oh, your getting it Storm." He said storming out of the room after me. By now Sarah, Sam and Eve came out of their rooms.
The staircase to the first floor was near the center of the room. Cam was chasing me around it. I was laughing. Once the others saw what was happening, both Eve and Sarah burst out laughing. "SAMMY SAVE ME." I said wanting Sam to do something. Sam watched me. "I got you Storm." He said. Sam tackled Cam the next time we circled. "Get OFF me Sam." Cam said still growling. Sam sat on Cam's stomach instead. "Nope, Storm said to save her so...too bad." Now I really was laughing. I bent down trying to catch my breath.
That was half for fun and half payback. "That-was-packback-Cam. For-putting-paint in-my-shampoo." I said while still catching my breath. I stood up fully. A few weeks ago, Cam had decided to put pink paint in my shampoo bottle. He had gotten a kick when I stormed out of the bathroom, in a robe, with bright pink hair. Now I had my payback. "Ok. I tap out." Cam said. He tapped the carpet. Sam looked at me and waited. I let Cam suffer a bit more before nodding.
Sam got up and offered his hand to Cam. Sarah and Eve were getting over their laughs too. Since being sent here, I'd really learned more about myself. I wasn't so... inward anymore. I liked my new self. "Storm, why did you wake up so early?" Sarah said, her voice stern now. She was in alpha mode now. It didn't affect me as much but I straightened up and faced her. "I thought it was late. I was worried that I would miss training." I said.
I held onto the phone in my hand still. I should have recorded Cam and use it as blackmail in case he tried something. Sarah held her hand out. I sighed, looked down, and handed over my phone. "You'll get this back tomorrow." Sarah said walking to her room. Eve waited until Sarah had closed the door. "Training usually doesn't start until 10:00 Storm. We sleep in on the weekends." Cam was technically the beta of the pack but Eve seemed more fit for the spot to me. I nodded and headed towards the stairs.
I went outside. At one point Sarah and I had brought and planted some wild flowers so now the backyard was full of them. The house was built again in under four months. You wouldn't be able to tell that there was ever a fire. I waited for everyone to come outside. I wasn't exactly sure how the training would be but I had a few ideas. In Alpha Jaces pack, training was either in wolf form or human form. It included running several miles.
Sometime it would be hand-to-hand, or wolf-to-wolf battle. I thought about if the day would bring another note from Jacob. The last one had said that everything was going fine. Besides a few easily handled rouge attacks. A few people had found their mates. When a she-wold found her mate, he would take her to his pack. That didn't apply to me since I wasn't seventeen yet. I technically wasn't susposed to be able to shift yet because I wasn't even sixteen yet. But with my birthday just a month away, nothing could be assumed. I turned and faced the group as Eve came out before Sarah.
I knew she would have hidden my phone. But it wasn't like I would miss a call or text. "Ok, Storm since this will be your first training with us. I'll explain how we train." She paused.
"When we train, we first practice hand-to-hand combat. That lasts for about two hours. Then we shift and practice hunting or stamina in fighting or running. That lasts for three hours. At the end we pair up for a mini tournament to see who improved the best. Since there are five of us now, I've called in an extra hand. Jake, could you come out here please?" Her words made my heart skip a beat.
