Finding Him

Well, I had practiced hunting when ever I could.  That is with two or three other warriors, and only after hiding my scent and coat color.  I usually tried to find Ash.  Sometimes they would pretend to be attacking rouges.  I thought it was fun to practice fighting.  Each time I actually hunted, they said I should try to keep my kills clean.  I was leaving to much blood, the scent was hard to get rid of.  They had said I should use my speed.  I took their advice this time.

I nudged the rabbit.  This was my first time hunting without someone watching me.  I sat down.  There wasn't that much of a protest from my leg anymore.  What about your leg?  How did you catch up with that rabbit, I thought your leg was broken.  Those are usually super fast.  Jacobs voice was worrisome.

My leg had been hurting when I fell asleep.  It wasn't hurting when I got up.  I guess it healed enough that it doesn't hurt as much.  I mean, I could've ran for miles.  I just ignored any pain that I felt.  It was actually one of my best runs to date.  I felt like I could tell Jacob anything right now.  Jacob walked slowly forward.

He picked the rabbit up.  I followed him back the way the both of us had run.  He insisted that I tried to not walk.  No matter how much I told him I was fine, he wanted "to be sure."  I made sure that he knew I wasn't happy.  Instead of whining, I simply refused to answer him.  It seemed like that was enough for him.

No matter what he said I didn't respond.  Come on, Storm can you at least say something?  He said for the fifth time.  You're not being very fair.  Great now Sapphire was teaming up with Jacob on me.  I mentally growled at her, only receiving her whine in return.  I did not want to fight with Sapphire right now.

No matter how much pleading either of them tried, I didn't say a word.  Nor would I let my guard down, Sapphire was waiting to take control.  I had learned that when I let Sapphire take control that my eyes turn to a purple color and that I tend to freak out like I was on fire or something.

Jacob obviously didn't know this yet.  I didn't even plan on telling him because it would be really awkward to explain without letting Sapphire actually take control.  The one time I told Doctor Sam about this he had said, "It's probably because you didn't phase at the right time.  When your wolf side does want to come out, it has to get used to what the form feels like.  If you let this happen so much, you might hurt someone or yourself.  Try to not practice around other pack member unless they know how to help."  So basically the doctor was telling me that Sapphire was crazy and only to let her take control when I'm not near anyone or I'd someone if near that they know how to control any freak outs.

Yea, real nice word process doc.  I gazed off into the woods.  Something had moved, Jacob hadn't detected it but I did.  Somehow I knew that it wasn't  Ash nor Nightfury.  I wasn't sure how I knew this but I just did.  I looked around for Jacob, he was not in sight.  I turned and jumped into a full on run.  I looked behind me only long enough to bump into someone who was also in their wolf form.

I fell back and lost my balance.  Hey, watch where you're going.  What's with you she-wolves?  Don't you have a ceremony to go to?  Have a mate to find?  The voice was male, a brown coat.  I couldn't see their eyes.  I stood up.  Rude much?  I muttered to his back.

I turned around and the next thing I knew, I was on my stomach, under the weight of the brown wolf.   Never speak to me like that again.  I can rip your throat out in a second.  I growled from deep in my throat and flipped myself over.  The brown wolf was flipped off and landed on the ground where I was just a second before.

I bared my teeth in defense of his threat.  My fur stood on end.  Something about this wolf had a familiar sense of danger to him.  From his tone, I could tell he was an alpha.  You dare defy me?  He said through a growl.  I growled back.  I had enough of being a push over.  I kept my teeth bared.

I won't let you be the next person to mess with my life.  Wether your an Alpha or not.  As I finished, the brown wolf lunged forward.  I felt his teeth clam shut around my throat.  I twisted and clawed his muzzle.  He let my neck go and leaped back.  I heard someone else coming.

A familiar growl joined in.  I lunged at the brown wolf.  I only managed to clip his side with my claws.  I kept my teeth bared as a short flash of anger and recognition flew across the brown wolfs face.  He snarled, a short burst of annoyance, and left.  I took a quavering breath.  Jacob was still in his defensive stance.  He must have been waiting Incase I needed help.

That must have been who I felt coming.  What was that Storm?  You just start fighting the first wolf you meet?  That's not very smart.  Jacobs tone was a mix of worry and held back anger.

It wasn't my fault.  He ran into me, I though someone was coming so I wanted to see who it was.  We was being rude so I said so.  He attacked first, mine was self defense.  My voice was more calm than I thought it would be.

I heard his chuckle.  Well, I'm actually surprised you decided to speak to me again.  But I'm not sure how you heard him and managed to sneak out without me hearing you.  I shrugged.  Somehow I couldn't get what he meant.  Jacob, I think it's time I told you something.  I paused.  What is it?  He said.  I turned and walked past him.

I didn't start to explain until we were back in the small space under the rotted pack house.  Well, I'm sure you already have let your wolf take control a few times.  But when I left mine take control.... it a very difficult thing for me to understand myself.  The one time it happened before was an accident.  I had been with Ash during a hunting trip.  I freaked out when Ash decided to play a trick.  He had hidden his scent.  My wolf, Sapphire, took over.  When I managed to rein her in, Ash had tumbled down a hill.  He told me that my eyes had turned purple and I looked like I had been set on fire.  Since then I tried to keep Sapphire in but just now, she almost took over again.  When I told the packs doctor, he said it was because she was inexperienced but I think somethings wrong with me.  I let my head drop.

Jacob didn't say anything, there were no words anyway.  Soon he said that it was time we headed back.  I agreed softly.  I knew that there would be questions once we got back.
