Storms POV
At one point I had fallen asleep. When I woke up, the driver was waiting for me to get out of the car. "I am not allowed to pass this point. If you walk northernly for a few miles, you should come across a small pack house. There should be four other shifters there. You should introduce yourself and explain why you were sent here. Just try not to shift. They only know the half of the truth." His voice was uncaring. I nodded and reached into the car to grab the black and white duffel bag.
I slung the bag over my shoulder. I walked towards the way the guard directed me. My thoughts drifted to Jacob. Somehow I would be back with him. Not matter how long it took, I would be with him again. I shoo my head to clear the thoughts. Sapphire whined. She didn't say anything still. Sapphire had started to become quite. More quite then she's ever been. It worried me. Don't worry Saph, we'll be back with Jacob soon enough. I said, trying to cheer her up.
The only thing I got in return was a small yelp to the nickname. I sighed and continued to walk. The scents of the forest enveloped me in a soft mist. I had never been so far from the pack I'd been with my whole life. It seemed like forever before I heard something move. It was just a squirrel though.
I had turned back, to continue walking. Something slammed me into one of the fir trees. I let out a soft whine before getting back to me feet. I growled and shoved the person away. Instead of the retort, there was a chuckle. "Well, looks like she's got guts." A masculine voice said. I bared my teeth. Two more people stepped out, with one wolf. I let a warning growl slip out.
"Take it easy Storm." A females voice said. I stopped a second growl. "How do you know my name?" I said in a feral tone. The situation was tense enough for me that I didn't shudder. "We've known you were coming for a few days. I should apologize for Sam. He wanted to make sure you were a wolf and not a human. Your scent confused all of us." The voice grew to a wary tone.
I straightened my stance, I hadn't realized I had been poised to attack. I nodded. "Ok, my name is Sarah. Sam was the one who shoved, however rudely. Cam is next to him, and Eve is the wolf. Now that we know each other's names we should get to the pack house, don't you think?" They turned and walked away. I had no choice but to follow them. The house that they led me to was small but, for some reason, homey.
I could properly see everyone. Sarah was blonde. Sam had black hair. Cam matched Sam's hair but his had small streaks of blonde. Eve's wolf was brown. I assumed her hair was as well. The house itself was a tan color. I could count several window one the front alone. The trim around the windows was light grey. The plants seemed to be well taken care of. I could see roses, daffodils, lavender, and some flowers I didn't even know the name of. Sarah turned and smiled.
"Ok, Storm I know your probably mad. But let me explain a few things." She waiting for me to nod. "Good. I know your used to having a big pack with tins of members, but this is our pack. We might be small but we have the best warriors. Whenever a pack a under rouge attacks, we come and train their warriors. I'm this packs Alpha, Cam is my beta. Your Alpha told me that you found your mate early. But he failed to say if you have shifted or not. If you haven't, I would be happy to help. If you have then that won't be a problem." I was listening but looking around at the same time.
I looked back to Sarah, nodding. I wasn't sure if I should show her or not. Turned out I didn't need to. "Are you nodding that you can shift or not?" Sarah said calmly. I took a deep breath. "I can shift. I've had practice fighting and hunting." I said slowly. Sarah nodded. It looked like she was going to say something but a ringing sound came from the house. I knew a smoke alarm going off anywhere.
"Dammit, Sam! I told you to watch the oven." Sarah called out. She ran towards the house just as smoke was starting the come out of a open window. I followed slowly. A small mew came from somewhere. I looked to the window. I could see a blue and a green eye in the window. It was a black cat. Everyone was coming out the door now. I took a few steps forward. I started toward the door.
"Storm, don't go in there. Sam go get the fire extinguisher from the garden shed." The voice was Sarah's. I kept walking to the door. "Storm! Do not go in there!" She said again. I burst into a run and went into the house. Thick smoke was hanging in the air. I called out softly, trying to not inhale the smoke. "Come on out little kitty. Come on, where are you. I'm just want to help." I said in a calm voice. I saw a patch of black against the white marble floor in the kitchen.
I walked slowly over and picked up the cat. It was so small, it had to be a kitten. I held the kitten in my arms and tried to keep it from seeing the flames that were coming from the oven. The while house was catching on fire. I started to walk slowly to the door. Some of the ceiling fell in front of me. I jumped back, my shoe falling though the boards. I pulled my foot out.
More of the ceiling fell, it blocked the front door. I turned my head and saw a back door. The only thing was the pit of fire between it and me. I took a few steps back and ran forward. I nearly made the whole jump. I slipped and nearly fell into the pit. I caught my balance and went to the door. The yard in the back was mostly fire-free. I walked a good distance away from the flames and set the kitten down. It was a she.
The poor thing was shaking. I knelt down and picked the kitten back up, stroking her softly to calm her down. I heard Sarah call my name again. I stood up slowly. I never changed out of the black and white dress that I had worn to see Alpha Jace. The was in one piece but I could say the same about my sneakers. The left one was burnt, while the right on was torn practically to shreds.
Sarah came from the back door, her face showing pure worry. It faded as she saw me. "What was that!" She practically screamed. I looked down at the kitten.
