Storm's POV

I did find me way to Nightfury's room. It just took a while to... Before even knocking on the door, I could feel how sad he really was. The door wasn't even locked. The opened it slightly, receiving a halfhearted growl. "Hey... It's just me Nightfury." I said softly. My brother was laying on his bed, not even facing the door.

Well, that was until he heard my voice. "Hey sis..." He started. I sighed, walking over and sitting at the foot of his bed. "I know you did get the chance to meet your mate, but that doesn't mean you won't have a second chance mate." I tried assuring him. Nightfury just sighed.

"Of course you would say that. YOU'VE already found your mate." He half growled. He really had to go there? "That has nothing to do with it! I thought I would NEVER find my mate! That I would be alone the rest of my life." I retorted, getting off the bed.

"Really? It doesn't? I find that pretty hard to believe!" Nightfury said, sitting up. His eyes told me I wasn't going to get through to him when he was like this. "You clearly can't think straight right now. I'm leaving, but I only came here because I wanted to help you. I know how it feels to lose someone." I said, leaving the room and slamming the door closed.

I heard Nightfury get off the bed and go to the door. I went down the stairs as he opened the door. "Star, wait!" He called. It felt weird to hear my own brother calling me by a name, that wasn't really mine. I half growled. Storm, you have to calm down. You might shift. Sapphire told me calmly. I half growled again. I know, but I was only trying to help him. I told her, leaving the pack house.

Nightfury was right behind me as the pack house door closed. "Please, I'm sorry." He whined. I turned on my heal to face him. I could feel myself trying to shift already.

I growled lowly as my brother took another step forward. "Don't take another step." I growled a bit too harshly. Nightfury flinched, taking a step back slowly. Wait, why did he flinch? You ordered him to not take another step Storm. An Alpha's order. Saph said. An Alpha's order? But I'm not an Alpha. I replied. Nightfury shook his head slowly.

"This shouldn't be happening yet..." He muttered. I half growled again. I couldn't risk forcing my brother to do something! What if I hurt him? "Storm, you know who we need to see." Nightfury said in a low voice. He meant our father. I took another breath. "Right..." I said softly.

It'll be okay Storm. Nothing bad can come from this. Sapphire told me. I hope you're right Saph. I thought back. Nightfury waited for me to go back inside the pack house before going in himself. He must hate me now. We went to our parent's room.

It is never a good idea to wake an Alpha and Luna up during the night, I'd learned that from Alpha Jace and Luna Sky. Nightfury knocked on the door three with three distinct knocks. I could hear the bed groaning as someone got off it. The door opened slowly. "What's the matter?" My father's voice asked.

He was surprisingly calm. Maybe they planned that knock to say who it was? Nightfury just looked back at me. "It's happening, and it's too soon," was all he said to explain. What was happening? And what did he mean by 'too soon'?

My father let us both in. My mother was sitting up, already anxious. "Sweetie, tell us what happened." She said to me. I sat on the bed. "I wanted to talk to Nightfury to see if I could help him feel better about his mate... I said that the Moon Goddess might give him a second chance." I started.

"He got mad, saying I only said that because I had already found my mate. I got mad and left the room. He followed me outside. I told him to not come closer, but it was like he couldn't disobey what I said. Sapphire told me I'd used an Alpha's command..." I finished. "Nightfury, you know very well it's nobody's fault with everything that's happened." My father said harshly. My mother moved to sit next to me and brushed my hair with her hands.

"We should have told you this before dear." My mother said. "Told me what?" I asked, looking at her. My mother and father exchanged looks. "When you and your brother were born, it was at the same time. You're technically twins, but fraternal. Nightfury did come out first, so he was supposed to receive the Alpha's title... But the pack doctors all agreed that wouldn't happen." My mother half explained.

"They said something happened while your mother was pregnant that didn't let the Alpha genes develop in Nightfury. They developed in you instead." My father continued. "You're one of the first female Alphas dear."

I looked at my parents. No way this was happening. "Are you serious?" I said softly. This was too much!
