"The Sun pack?" I repeated. Alpha Jace nodded. "His father couldn't make the trip. But he trusted his son to turn over some information to me. Apparently someone has been spreading rumors that there is a member of the Moon pack in our territory.
They wanted to know if we knew who it was. I told him that those rumors were false. I did not know that Jacob had that clip with him." His words were brisk and the half smile was forced. Wonder why he's telling us all this. Stuff like this is susposed to be only among the Alphas family. Sapphire hadn't said anything since the stairs. I jumped slightly as she started.
Luna Star watched me with her soft eyes still. She walked, slowly, towards me. "I want you to come with me. Would you feel safe if we went somewhere just to two of us?" Her voice made me rethink my answer. I nodded. "Ok. I'll pack a few things and we'll leave before nightfall." She left the bathroom and went down the stairs. Ash and his father followed her slowly. They left me there.
After hearing their voices outside, I started to make my way back down the stairs. I left the pack house and went to the lake to just find some quite. Something is definitely up with them. The only thing is what is it. I thought to Sapphire. Yea, I know that they wouldn't have told us that without a good reason.
Her whine at the end was longing. Why can't I stop thinking about that Jacob guy? His face just keeps coming up. I pushed his face away again. Not sure, I saw a library when you went looking around. Maybe there's an answer there? I nodded and cut off our link. I felt Sapphire whine longingly again. There was something that she wasn't telling me.
It took a while to find the library. It was on the forth floor and almost all the way down the hall, forth door on the right. I couldn't find something that fit what was going on. I did end up finding a history book. It was a large book with a blue, old, broken cover. It looked like it was the oldest one in the collection. I read a few sentences out loud.
"The most important of all bonds is a wolfs mate. The Moongoddess gave wolfs something that she didn't give humans. She gave them mates. A mate is like you other half, a soulmate. A person's wolf will tell them when their mate is near. One can find their mate when they reach seventeen. If two find their mates and they are both not of the right age, then the two will be prevented from seeing each other until they both reach the appropriate age." I closed the book and looked out the window.
I couldn't imagine the pain that the two would experience. To find someone you need to live and then not be able to see them until you both are at least seventeen. That would be the worst king of torture. A person might not be able to stand it. I hoped that I could ask someone who's you know if you found your mate. So that I would know if I found mine.
I put the book back on its self and headed back towards the first floor. I knew that lunch would be soon. I just hoped that I would be able to blend back into a near nonexistent space again. I couldn't stand being in the spot light. When I got down there, I met the eyes of three of the warriors.
They turned back towards the other two and they kept glancing towards me. I groaned internally. Great now it looks like I'm the talk of the pack. I so did not want this to happen. Sapphire growled. Maybe it'll just be a normal time. They might not say anything to you, or about. I knew that Sapphire was hiding something from me.
She cut off our link. I walked slowly into the dinning room and wanted to walk right back out the door. "Hey, looks who finally came down. Come grab something to eat Storm." It was Alpha Jace. Luna Sky looked about just as confused as I must have. I nodded once and went to grab a tray. I put two egg salad sandwiches and some of the salad. I wasn't that hungry.
Ash looked at me apologeticly out of the corner of his eye. Alpha Jace motioned for me to sit by Luna Star. I took the seat and wish I could dissolve into thin air. Somehow I knew that I wouldn't be able to just nod or shake my head for the questions that were coming. I tried to not meet the eyes of anyone who watched me.
Usually a visiting Alpha would sit next to the Luna. I wished they would explain what was going on. I risked looking up. I found Ash's eyes looking at me with the same saddened look. I would have to corner him to ask what this was about. I looked to Alpha Jace to see him starting at me.
I realized that he was waiting for me to answer a unheard question. "Sorry, what?" I said. There was a muted laugh. "I asked if you would tell some of us what happened to you." His voice told me that I would have to lie just a little bit. "Well," I started. "I'm sure that everyone here knows why I left the camp. What happened after was confusing, even for me. I ran into a few rouge wolves. They tried to attack me." There were I few gasps.
"They had caught me for a few minutes. I wouldn't have stood a chance alone. Another rouge came out of nowhere. They fought off the other ones. Mind that I couldn't have shifted, even if I knew how, to help or run. I thought that they were going to finish me off. Instead they shifted and helped me. I never got her name. She helped me find a safe place to hide. After that she sort of disappeared. I wasn't aware of how much time had passed. Once in a while I heard howls. I almost never left the small cave."
