"Forgive me I couldn't get you a present."Kade commented as he took a right turn. We're on the way back to Susie's to retrieve my car because it had been there ever since yesterday night. Just thinking about it gives me the chills so I prefer to keep my mind disturbed off of those negative thoughts.
"Today was enough. Plus, this could be considered a birthday gift already." I held up the horse toy to my face, stroking the smooth fur of the material.
"Pfft, of course—" He added, "—a lame one."
I shoot him a narrow gaze. "Getting a plush toy for a present is not lame you idiot, it's normal."
He stuck a tongue out. Could he look anymore immature? I internally laughed. "That's the shit people do on valentine's day, it's fucking lame."
"Does your ex begged you for stuff like this?" I wiggled my brows.
"If I can't buy her a damn Louis Vuitton or any luxury items for her birthday." He groused. "Doesn't help when all her plastic minions gift her jewelry and shit. So my present has to be up to par or worth more."
He then shoot me a snicker. "You're probably thinking how a rich asshole like me is also cheap? Well, I used my own money on her. The money that I made that's nowhere close to what Jeremy makes a month."
He used his own money on her.
Wow.
He continued. "But hey, at least it's illegal money, huh? Not that she even cares about that. But that shit still took some hard punches in the guts."
I could feel myself slightly gaping. "I—I see, so you just dated a gold digger?"
He sarcastically chuckled. "She was hot back then so I didn't mind."
I paused for a moment before sinking down in my seat and mumbled. "Of course, guys like you won't care."
His eyes looked up to the rearview mirror. "Care about what?"
"Girl's feelings." I thinned my lips. "I have a feeling she did like you more than you know, maybe atleast thirty percent."
I wasn't defending Celeste, but she must've feel some sort of gratitude towards him that makes her like having him around. Am I right? Or am I being too polite?
He raised a brow before narrowing his stare towards the road. "I doubt that."
"I mean if someone did that to me, I would've develop feelings. Friends or more. She must've appreciate what you've done to her, unless she has a personality disorder then I can't say anything." I paused for a moment as my eyes trying to survey his expression.
