Chapter 52

I open my door and Shawn slowly follows from behind. "Hey mum" I say as I head of the the refrigerator and look for something to eat. "Hey hun" She reply's as she reads a magazine. I see out of the corner of my eye, Shawn walking past trying to be quiet. "Hi shawn" my mum says and nerves take over my body. "Uh Hi" Shawn says and I can tell he's not sure if he should of said hi or not. "Would you like to stay for breakfast?" She asks and Shawn looks at me. "No it's fine" He reply's with a shaky voice. "No, you must just like old times" She says as she gets up and starts getting plates out. She looks over at me and smiles, I know she's trying to annoy me this is funny to her. I look at Shawn and I can tell he wants to laugh and so do I, I guess this is just breakfast and my mum does like Shawn anyway so it's not that bad.
My mum prepares us all breakfast and we sit at the table and my dad joins. "It's so nice to see you both together again, I thought you two were done for good" My mum says as she eats her food. "Yeah well every couple has their ups and downs" i reply trying to make this conversation more positive, I really don't want her to mention Grayson. "I really thought you guys were over when she started dating Grayson I thought you guys were done" she adds. Great. "Mum" I say as a way to shut her up. "What hunny? I'm just saying I'm glad you're both together again". She says looking at me. "She's right, Shawn I like you with my daughter, you treat her well and you make her happy and I respect that" he says as Shawn awkwardly smiles. "Mum, dad please can we discuss something else apart from me and Shawn's business?" I ask bluntly and there's a moment silence. The silence is broken by my dads phone ringing and luckily he leaves to take the call. The rest of our breakfast is just small talk and soon me and Shawn leave. "I'm sorry that was so awkward, my mum is like that" I say apologetically. "Vi it's fine" Shawn says as he puts his arm round me and we both take a stroll round town simply enjoying each other's company.
