After walking through the thick jungle for almost seven hours, I came to a small clearing, big enough for me to light a fire and possibly even lie down. I decided to stop for the day, as it was going to be nightfall soon.
Using the Force and my magic, I was able to drag a small log out of the brush over near the fire, even though there wasn't much space. Meanwhile, I left the other side as open as possible so that I could lie down.
I was astonished to find that the creatures in the surrounding jungle were relatively neutral; They didn't really mind my presence. Which was nice, because I felt almost safe enough to fall asleep.
Since the fire was a magical fire, it would burn safely and continuously throughout the night, and I could lie down for a while.
I sat down and rested my head on my backpack. 'I'm not going to fall asleep,' I thought, 'It's too dangerous.' I rolled away from the fire, then onto my back, but then finally laid with my chest facing it. I lost myself in my thoughts for a moment, my mind racing with all of the bad things that could happen to me out here....all alone.....with no one to hear my screams....
Suddenly, my mind snapped back to reality at the site of a boy sitting on the log on the other side of the fire.
He had to be my age if not a little older. His hair was an interestingly dark shade of umber at the roots, but was neon green for the most part. He had hazel eyes, and the green and brown looked perfectly balanced. He wore a neon green t-shirt, the same shade has his hair, that also looked to have been marbled with gold accents, and he wore a brown leather jacket that looked like it fit perfectly. His dark jeans looked a little tight, but the boots he wore were like mine. Stylish, but Practical. Then, I noticed the sort of green aura around him, as if it outlined him.
I sat up abruptly, calling my one of my lightsabers from my bag,
"Who are you?"
"Woah, woah! I come in peace!" He put his hands out in front of him as if in surrender.
I lowered my saber as he held one of his hands out to me.
"I'm sorry for startling you, I'm Sam!"
I shook his hand warily, and set down my saber, sensing that he was trustworthy, and hoping that I was right,
"I'm Y/N."
"I know."
"You do? How?" I could hear the tension rising in my own voice.
"I'm here to help you. You could say tha-"
"I don't need your help," I stood up and picked up my bag, "I'm fine. I do best on my own." I wasn't entirely wrong, I do work better on my own. Although, I guess I could use some food or something.
"Yes, you do. You need my help," He motioned for me to sit next to him, "Sit. I need to tell you who I am; You obviously don't trust me."
"Would you trust someone who just showed up out of nowhere?"
"Truthfully, no. No, I wouldn't, but please. Hear me out here."
".......................Okay."
"Well, what I was going to say before I was so RUDELY interrupted, was that I'm here because I'm basically.............your personal demon, so to speak. I was alerted that you were in distress, so, here I am." He held his arms out a bit and gave me some jazz hands as if to say "Ta-Da!" I laughed and said,
"So.....How exactly does that work? This....Personal demon-thingie?"
Then he told me about what he was supposed to do, that he was supposed to help me with pretty much whatever I needed. Although there were a few exceptions, basic rules, kind of like a genie I guess. He wasn't allowed to kill anyone, bring people back from the dead, and make people fall in love. He told me how he'd been waiting to be "assigned" to someone.
He said sometimes there were blips in the system. Sometimes mistakes were made and they would sit forever waiting for their assignment. I told him I knew what that was like. I'd been at the temple for as long as I could remember. I asked him if he had any food, and he let me eat as much as I could put down. I didn't really notice how many cookies I'd eaten until the second container was empty.
He showed me that he also transformed into a small green eye for "compact storage", as he called it. This proved to me that I could trust him. He also explained that he wouldn't need food, sleep, or even water to survive, Although it was nice to have once in a while. He also showed me that when he was a floating green eye he would "perch" himself on/slightly behind my left shoulder, as most people weren't used to such a sight. While he was explaining everything, I noticed the sky slowly getting lighter.
Suddenly, he stood and held his hand out to me.
"Well, Y/N, we should get going. The sun is almost up."
"But, where are we going?" I asked.
"That, Y/N, is entirely up to you."
