Rue Scarce
✳
Craig Fremont. One of the powerful Lords in our country and Dimitri's rival cousin.
"You've grown." The man said, looking straight into my eyes.
"I won't be surprised after two years." I replied with a dark voice.
"Ah, yes the wedding. How was my cousin? Was he a loyal man to you?"
I gave him a stern look.
"Oh. Begging your pardon, Lady Leighton. You wouldn't dare run away if your husband is a faithful Lord. You're not that foolish if he's hurt you physically. You were trained to endure everything, but I don't see why you left like that." He began to pace back and forth.
"So what has gotten into that beautiful head of yours to do this to him? Seeing as you're here you must be on business and everyone knows how good you are. Did you guys fight? Hmm... But what about? Last time you guys fought was when--" he suddenly stopped and looked at me with suspicion.
I didn't move and stood firm but I kept my eyes on his.
He lowered his eyes until they stopped at my stomach and sniffed my hair.
"And so it seems. The heir to the throne is at its own pace."
"What are you planning to do now, Lord Fremont? Sell me to your cousin?"
He mockingly placed his hand on his chin and gave a thoughtful look.
"That's a good option." He wonders and smiles.
"But I'm afraid I'll have to decline."
I frowned.
"Don't give me that look, Lady Leighton. You know full well that my relationship with your husband is on the rocks. We've been rivals at everything since childhood." He paced back and forth while avoiding my gaze.
"He's giving a handsome sum of money for capturing you, all because you're carrying his child. He cares only because of your baby. If it were me, I'd kill the kid and commit suicide."
He looked at me but I gave him a glare.
"It was just a suggestion, darling. Everyone loves the man but those who know him hated him all the same. I won't lay a finger on you and I won't tell him. If it means making him suffer with loneliness, I would hide you and the child."
He nods at his men and they pulled their phones out in response.
"I suppose this favour has something in return?"
He smirked.
"Tsk. Tsk. My cousin really brought you up wrongly. I don't need anything in exchange. Just make him beg."
A black limousine stopped in front of us and he stepped in but not before looking at me.
"And next time be careful. He has many minions around the world and these parts are no different."
