Rue Scarce

The two men stared at each other whilst breathing heavily. I could say they were glaring at each other but their hearts aren't beating in way of being enraged.

For a few more seconds, I thought for sure they were going to throw punches against each other and make a scene when they pulled their arms out and played with their hands slapping each other and bumping their fists. It made me frown for a while.

"What are they doing?" I asked out of the blue but the woman, Elaine heard.

"They're doing their bro handshake. They've been friends since they were in diapers and it's been a year since they last seen each other." She explained with a bright smile on her face.

I breathed a sigh of relief which left me with another frown. Why was I holding a breath I didn't even know I was holding?

I watched as they did their weird handshake and I couldn't help but feel puzzled as I've never seen that kind of bonding for people. It feels like I was too ignorant not to know since I never had people around me act like them and I don't step out of the Leighton Manor unless I was told to.

I suddenly felt my chest getting heavy and I merely cleared my throat and lost all the expression on my face to not show my feelings. I was a natural at it but now it felt hard to do so as I watched the two exchange smiles.

"Man, where the fucking hell were you?" I slightly winced at the words Vindik let out.

The man, Allen shrugged but the smile on his face didn't lessen.

"I went around the world for a while. Went to Rio de Janeiro for a while then to Italy and then to Paris for some shopping then I left for Rome Georgia. The last country I went to was in Philippines. You got to see the place, Vindik. I know you went to almost every city in the world but you haven't seen the best yet. Manila may not be too much but their hidden caves and their hundred islands-- I had to travel to every single one of them because I was too curious and--"

"In other words, they were beautiful." Helen cut his words off and it made him glare at her but I couldn't help but see their similar features.

"I wasn't asking you, Hel."

"Better than going off telling your bestfriend your whole life story." Helen answered with a smirk of her own and it made Allen scowl.

"How come you're not wearing enough jewelry, Helen? Did your boyfriend break up with you and now you're telling the whole world about it?" Allen talked back and it made Helen yell out in frustration.

"Elaine, Allen's being a dick!"

Elaine sighed, shaking her head at the two.

"I always have to get in between them just because I'm the eldest." She mumbled at me.

"Oh shut it, you two. You're not welcoming our guest with your mouths running like that."

At this, the two turned to look at me with Allen merely staring at me with curiosity.

"Ebony here is Vindik's girlfriend." Elaine explained, placing a hand on my shoulder.

My eyes almost popped out of their sockets and I can see Vindik doing the same as well. It took a while for Allen to process the information and his eyes did the same as he turned to his best friend.

"What the actual fuck?!" He grabbed his friend's collar but Elaine cleared her throat and looked at him sternly.

He was reluctant at first but then let him go and whispered.
