Rue Scarce
✳
"That went well." I stated, standing in front of Sheer who had her face in a scowl.
"That money is actually mine." She muttered.
"Technically, you used her as a means of opportunity and not a client."
"Technically, she isn't my client. Her father is."
"Technically, the job was paid for her."
"Technically, these technicallys' are wasting my fucking time."
I shake my head as she immersed herself in reading the words on her monitor. She was pouting and her eyebrows creased.
"Then I'd ask why you even gave half of the money back when you go pouting the minute you did?"
She sighs but didn't give me an answer and continued in typing letters on her keyboard.
I was hiding a grin in my mind and mentally shake my head at her.
This woman known as one of the cold people had to have a heart. Although she was shattered and broken down to pieces, she knows exactly what it felt like to be wrecked by a certain someone and ended up killing them as a means of freedom.
"Let's just drop the subject, Rue. Besides, I remember you have a job to do today."
She steered the conversation away and I internally sighed.
I took a day off from work yesterday and the day before that just so I could help Sheer in her job. Now that I am at least five months pregnant, I will have to take a temporary leave from my secretarial duties.
"You're right. I have a lot to do, so this discussion is transitory for the meantime." I stated, noticing how tense her shoulders were.
"I am grateful, Rue. I will see to it that I will deliver delicate desserts and sweets in your apartment in an hour."
"I am sure you will."

The security guards gave me a nod and a small smile as I walked past them. Everyone seemed tense today, which is odd. The employees here are usually not as bad looking as today.
The women on the other hand wore too much makeup and the scent they have on hurts the nose. The woman behind the desk, Irma Yale her name is, never noticed me coming. She was too busy looking at herself in the mirror to give me her usual morning greeting.
I shrugged everything off and continued on my way in the elevator. Even the people inside looked bothered.
I decided to ignore their behavior until one of the passengers with me spoke.
"Are you sure it's him?"
"Yes, I'm pretty sure that guy is him."
"Oh my gosh! Did he bring someone with him?"
"He walked with his cousin. I am so going to walk in their conference meeting."
I didn't let anything bother me as I stepped out of the elevator. I was heading towards my office when I heard distant voices coming from inside. I can tell it was inside Mr Stone's office but that's unusual.
He normally comes thirty minutes after I arrive. Whatever happened the past few days I wasn't present certainly changed almost everything.
I stepped in my office and placed my things on my desk. Before I could settle myself down and knock on the Boss's door, it opened and out came green eyes I am sure that looked familiar.
