Rue Scarce
✳
After telling Williams a part of my story, he went silent. He didn't even ask questions and just let me speak. He must be pitying me in his mind. Even if he doesn't tell me, I can tell what his real intentions are just by the beating of his heart.
But when I focused my attention on it, the heart rate was beating in a calm pace. Something not many people would do in front of me.
Closing my eyes slightly, I pushed strands of my hair on one side and showed him my nape.
"This scar shows proof. He cut me with his blade and I didn't even realise until the medics told me, but I was lucky enough to survive. Throughout his career as a killer, he never left anything to expose himself.
But he left me with the memories of that night, and that is enough evidence to state that he has plans for me."
I could feel his eyes look bewildered. The scar was so large that a few more inches would chop my head off and judging by the looks of it, most people won't be able to survive.
"It isn't a good scar to be remembered, but it drives me to find him. I am no longer holding any hatred for him, but I want to know what he knows."
"What will you do if he doesn't tell you anything once you find him?"
"Trust me, Williams. He will speak. I am certain of it."

I crunched my nose in a manner of showing disgust at the hospital's scent. I have no idea why but just the smell of this place had me shake my head, like I have a bad memory concerning it. I can't seem to recall anything about it though.
"Hi, Miss Collins. Sorry for the wait and your tests came out." The doctor currently giving me care walked through the doors.
"Judging by your smile, Dr Russo, it must be good." I say with a small smile in response.
His smile widened more and wagged his pen at me.
"You are a psychic, aren't you?" He teased but I rolled my eyes.
"I have told you over and over again that I am not a psychic, Dr Russo."
"Oh, you don't know that but I do."
I raised an eyebrow.
"So what, I can do magic?"
He shrugged.
"Probably. You could read my mind right now and not say anything or you could break one's neck with just a snap of your fingers."
I almost laughed.
If you knew, I could do all of that just sitting here.
"So how is my pregnancy going?" I decided to change the subject.
"You are doing great, Ebony. I've never had a patient that carried a perfect and healthy baby like you. Not too careful and not too careless. You are doing everything right."
I sighed in relief that had me frowning. It seems I've grown a little fond of the child growing inside me.
"I still have to advice you to keep your diet healthy. I have a feeling you are into sweets and being pregnant makes you crave for more."
I suppose I'm not the psychic one in the room.
"Also, don't stress yourself too much. You are a single mom so I know that you need to work in order to keep your expenses into balance, especially with the little angel you have there."
