"... Your Uncle Vindik's girlfriend."

I don't recall being called on like this. I have been called many names, half of which are being dragged into a pile of dirt and brought back up again. The most are not so good in the ears nor so clean for the pure.

I have been introduced as an orphan, a scumbag, a loyal dog, a fiancée, and a Mafia Don's wife. But never with the last word Wendy referred to me as.

The children looked up at me in awe, their eyes brightening in delight.

"You're pretty." The girl in a blue gown, Alissa mumbled.

Almost flustered, I blinked a few times before giving them a smile which I am unsure of its certainty.

"Thank you, you are pretty too. The dresses make you look like real princesses." She blushed at my comment.

"You sound like the ones from the movies." She replied.

Sheena, who wore the pink gown, then turned to the man behind me.

"If she's Uncle Vindik's girlfriend, then how come you two are not kissing?"

I was taken aback and Vindik's breathing stopped for a moment.

"Yeah, Aunt Ebony is like a princess. Her prince should be holding her like one."

Aunt?

I briefly thought their mother would put a stop in this nonsense but she had a smug look on her face with her index finger placed on her chin.

"You're right, girls. I remember Cinderella kissing her Prince."

"This isn't--" I tried to retaliate but stopped when Vindik wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me towards him.

Our bodies colliding gently and I was unable to react when he took my right hand with his and placed his lips on the back of my hand. My eyes were wide open when they lingered a second longer than intended.

"I think my princess just needs some time for herself. Although I would be crazed if she takes too much for herself than for me." Vindik's voice went a lot deeper than before as he stared into my eyes in all seriousness.

Just staring into those dark mysterious eyes can pull me into my reverie.

The girls squealed at almost exactly the same time and their mother giggles with them.

"So, give us a sample of what true love's kiss is like, you two." Instead, she urges us to do more.

"I--" I held my breath the moment Vindik leaned closer, our foreheads touching in an instant.

"You wouldn't want to spoil the fun, would you?"

Fun?

I almost laughed. This is entertaining him. And because of my ignorance I gladly gave him the luxury of it. Men are mostly the same. Just now I could picture Dimitri in Vindik's position and I wasn't about to give in to their impetus vitality.

I placed my free hand on top of the arm around my waist and deliberately pulled it off the way I did to Cavis's. I distanced myself from him and averted my eyes from his shocked ones.

"I believe we are getting sidetracked at the moment. Why don't you girls check the gifts your Uncle Travis gave you? I know you'll like then."

Without realising, Wendy didn't have a tight hold on the bag in hand that the girls easily grabbed it.
