"Nothing seems to be a problem, Miss Collins. I assure you, the baby is not in shock and you're holding up fine as well." The doctor stated, putting the stethoscope away.

"Thank you, Dr Russo. For giving me the time of the day."

He smiles genuinely at me.

"Oh it's okay. I know how much you care for your baby. My wife is much worse when she was pregnant really. Always telling me to check the heartbeat and get her photocopies of the baby pictures so she could show them off. The worse year ever." He expressed how stressed he was just talking about the experience and I gave out a faint laugh in return.

"By the way, is he the father?" He pulled me in for a whisper while pointing at Vindik's stature who is standing by the door with a phone pressed against his ear.

"I saw him in the television once in a while. The CEO of a famous publishing company, he's a big shot."

"Uh-huh." I hummed, wondering why the doctor had to speak to me in a whisper.

"Is he the reason why you're a single mother? Does he not want anyone to know because it might wreck his career?" This doctor is getting excited over nothing.

"Dr Russo." I said with much force to snap his attention to me.

"I need to leave now, Doctor. I took too much of your time." I tell him, standing up from my seat.

As if on cue, Vindik opened the door and approached me.

"Is everything all right?" He asked, checking my state.

"Everything is fine, Vindik." I tell him, turning my attention to the doctor watching him with hawk like eyes.

"Thank you again, Dr Russo. I'll make sure to come back for our next appointment."

The man stopped throwing Vindik glares and gave me another smile.

"I'll be expecting it, Ebony. But make sure to keep yourself from overworking too much. Mr Riot, please keep an eye on her." Dr Russo said with a stern expression on his face.

"I will." With a simple reply, Vindik grabbed me with an arm resting behind my shoulders and we left the room silently.

"Is it me or is that doctor shooting me with lasers in his eyes?"

"It's all you, Vindik."

"Could've sworn he's killing me with looks."

"He thinks you're the father of this child and that you're covering for the expenses to shut my mouth and prevent anyone from knowing."

It took a moment for Vindik to process the information until he let out a loud chuckle.

"The doctor must love watching dramas then. I wouldn't blame him, we look too good to be a couple."

I instead ignored him and rolled my eyes.

When we reached the car, we rode back to my apartment and he insisted on taking me to my room. I was reluctant but I allowed him, seeing as I don't have anything to hide in my flat.

We stepped out of the elevator and walked straight towards the door on the right since there are only two rooms available in this floor.

"Just to be clear, I don't live alone." I say as I used my card key to open the door.

Vindik had a frown on, completely puzzled.

"What do you mea--"

"My Lady, you're finally home." My brow automatically lifted when Kieffer greeted me.
