Vindik Riot

The car ride was silent as hell, but damn, I can't stop looking at her. She looks the same with the usual emotionless face and the usual scowl surfacing every now and then. She's adorable yet a scary one at that.

She looks like she's hiding something big that no one should know and her aura screams danger, which makes it clear that she had a rough past and I wanted to know. If only she would let me.

A pointless dream I know. She barely gives me notice nor does she even gives me time unless it's important. But that's what I feel every time I see her.

"Do you know the gender?" I asked to break the silence.

"No." She replied.

"No? Why? Don't you want to know if it's a he or a she?"

She went silent for a moment, collecting her thoughts.

"I want to but, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to wait."

This amused me so I hummed. She tends to be a person who is patient but loses it because of me.

"Do you have any names for either gender?"

Again, she went silent and so I took it as a no.

"I'm not really good at this but I think it's better if you think of names at an early date."

"I don't really have anything in mind."

"Let me help then."

She turned her head to the side so she could look at me and wore a frown on her face.

"For a boy...let's see. Acheron, which means the river of woe." I gave her a sideways glance and she seemed to be deep in thought but then shook her head.

"Too stoic." She answers. I'm surprised she even allowed me to give my opinion.

I cleared my throat and continued.

"Ilion, other name for the city of Troy. Or Chios, a kingdom mentioned in Greek mythology." She scrunched her face up and pursed her lips, just the action made me smile.

"The description lacks modesty and too common for my taste."

"You know that we're actually thinking for a boy's name right? It should at least be intimidating. Like mine." I told her with a thought in mind.

"Don't look forward to it then."

I quirked an eyebrow.

"Why? It sounds cool."

"With you saying it makes it otherwise."

"Ouch. That stung you know." I faked being hurt but she just rolled her eyes.

"I wouldn't say that, Ebony. Yours is too mysterious as it sounds. It doesn't even match your appearance." I returned with a look of curiosity.

"Don't concern yourself. What does your name mean, if you don't mind me asking?"

I'm surprised she even bothered asking when she wasn't a least bit curious about anything concerning me.

"Vindik, short for Vindicator. Vindicate means to clear (someone) of blame or suspicion. I guess my parents were a fan of drama and mystery that they even named their son as a sign of justice. I'm far better than that though."

She's deep in her thoughts again so I shrugged when she didn't answer and with a smile still on my face, I kept going.

"How about Aidos? It means reverence. Or Sirius, a dog star?"
