Emily Wheelers

"They're here." Conner announced before standing up to greet the others.

I was visibly shaking without me realising it. I never knew that this setup would make me feel anxious and without a doubt, I'm scared.

Scared that I may not be able to look at Leonus in the eye. Scared that when I see him, I will still cower in fear. It is almost impossible to face him, let alone capture him with his men but I didn't expect these people to be successful.

When the helicopter's engine ceased to be heard, I raised my head and my eyes followed Conner's figure heading towards the door.

He held the doorknob in his hand but he took the time to look back at me, a look of concern crossed his handsome face.

"You can stay here if you want. I'm sure Miss Rue and Miss Sheer would clean the mess for you."

At this, I shake my head and although strained, I pulled myself on my feet and looked straight with uncertain determination.

"I'm fine. Now that this time has come, I will make sure not to miss it."

I slapped my hands over the table in aggravation, my eyes glaring at the people standing in front of me.

"It's part of the deal, Emily." Rue answered only to anger me more.

"Killing someone isn't a part of the deal on my end. My father wouldn't order someone he hired to kill the man he wants me to be protected from."

"It should be expected once you hired an assassin. Your father should know how this ends and he must take whatever he bargained for, as you should as well."

I went silent for a minute and then heard a scoff from the other person.

"If you don't want any of this, then your shouldn't have signed up for the shit in the first place. Who would have thought a frail girl like you could watch a man dying in front of her? I'm pretty sure you'll be wetting your panties before the bullet could get through his head."

"Sheer--"

"So what, Rue? She's a big girl. All she has to do is watch as we torture her abusive boyfriend for a little while and then put a bullet through his damn head."

I tensed up at the thought as Rue sighed after Sheer's statement.

"You know it isn't that easy."

Sheer shrugged.

"It was for us."

"Not for ordinary kids like her. We belong in this life, she doesn't."

"Tsk. The least she could do is get through with this, not for her sake but for her parents."

Rue didn't speak to her again and then turned towards me.

"Look, Emily." She urged so I looked up to face her.

"You have to accept this. Your father hired us to protect you and to assassinate a certain person. We are just doing our job, that's our way of living."

I arched an eyebrow.

"And your job is to kill people?"

I can feel this woman getting completely annoyed but she didn't show any signs of it.

"I'm surprised that's what you just understood after Rue's words. Most would have to kneel before her just to get her attention." The other woman interjected with a bored look on her face.
