Rue Scarce

I absolutely recall them saying they are only out for a bite. But how come there's a large roasted turkey, a barbecued chicken, and a large tray of lasagna spread across the table. Aside from that there are plenty of dishes along with it that I am certain can make any stomach full.

"Cavis's appetite is not something to laugh at actually. I don't know how the hell he kept that weight and size despite his binge eating when no one's around." Candice whispered in my ear.

I suppose that explains a lot.

"Mr Stone, Janice's manager called. He said he wants to arrange another assignment for the singer under your choose." I told him, looking down on the tablet in hand.

"Tell him to come to my office at exactly three. I have that time vacant yes?"

I nod.

"Yes, Sir. At three thirty, you will be signing another contract with the newly hired band." I confirmed.

"Good. Thirty minutes with the manager is more than enough time."

As I resumed work, Cavis stayed in the office playing with his phone. He and Mr Stone had a conversation a while ago, Cavis uttering words that are complete and utter nonsense and the older brother telling him to shut up.

Now he was pouting, giving small glances at his brother then eyeing me like he wants me to pity him. I mentally rolled my eyes, taking another phone call in the process.

"Miss Collins, will you please order someone to buy the latest version of IPhone? Right now?" Mr Stone called out after I ended the call.

"Yes, Mr Stone. May I ask what is the rush?"

He sighs, rubbing his temple.

"Sheena and Alissa, my goddaughters are having a birthday party close by. I won't be able to attend so I will just give them presents."

What a doting man. I wonder what happens if he had children.

"Oh, I remember. They're twelve by now right, Travis?" As if awoken from the dead, Cavis sat up from the office couch with delight in his eyes.

"As much as I want you out of my hair, mother forced me to watch you. Whatever you have in mind, I won't let you go to that party unless I go as well." Mr Stone replied with a stern voice while I spoke to someone on the phone.

After ending the phone call, I noticed Cavis's eyes on me, watching my every move. Once I maintained eye contact, the ends of his lips quirked up slightly.

"Ah, I feel bad for Ebony here, big brother."

Mr Stone stopped typing on his keyboard with his forehead creasing.

"You order her like hell and she only has a thirty minute break then she resumes her work with you. She looks tense and pale because of her work and not to mention her condition as well." Cavis spoke with a smooth voice, as if he really does pity me but his facial expression speaks otherwise.

Of course, Mr Stone won't be able to tell since he had his back turned on him.

I don't think I feel different than usual though. I internally sighed. At first, I thought this man is matured seeing that he's by my age, but unfortunately, he is far from that word.

"What do you propose we do, Cavis?"

Now he got his brother's full attention. What's left is his next step.
