Rue Scarce

I snapped my head up seconds before the door bursts open.
There came a woman I am not familiar with who is most likely older than me for two years.
She laid her eyes on me, her blue eyes staring with a frown but shrugged and made an attempt to barge through the boss's door.
Before she could even touch the door knob, I held her wrist in my hand to stop her.
"I'm sorry, Miss but can I help you? You are not allowed in Mr Stone's office without a scheduled appointment." And I am certain there were no appointments listed for an interview or a meeting today so it seems this one is a sudden visit.
I saw her raise an eyebrow and a few strands of her red hair fell over her forehead. I refrained from blinking when she looked at me from head to toe with a confused expression.
"You look new so you don't know yet, but I need to see your boss." She spoke in a rather straight forward tone.
"State your name please." I say, letting go of my grip on her.
She opened her mouth to reply but the door beside us opened and intervened with our attempted conversation.
Mr Stone looked at us in confusion then turned to the woman standing in front of me. Instead of looking surprised, his face masked with recognition then his expression can barely be determined.
"Aera Maverick (Pronounced as Eyra)." The man simply said before nodding at her then turning to me.
"I apologize for this, Miss Collins. This is an old friend of mine and she just came to visit. I forgot to update you about it."
I frowned but nodded anyway.
"It is fine, Sir. I shall take my leave then."
I gave the woman a slight nod and turned to leave them in the office for their talk.
"I'm sorry for not informing you, boss. I didn't know you had a new employee."
"It is fine, Aera. Be careful next time."
I knew it. I can still hear them speak even when I took several steps away from the door. Mr Stone never forgets to inform me of any personal visit.
I had already met his mother one time last month and his father, the former CEO of this entertainment, came a few weeks ago. And they were sudden but my boss would inform me in two hours beforehand.
But what confused me the most was the last line he spoke, Be careful next time. It sounds fishy.
The longer I stay here, the more I start to notice some things and they are not the good ones. Bit by bit, my suspicions would be confirmed and all that is left will be my course of action.
I just need to wait patiently for my pregnancy to bear its fruit and then I'll make a decision.

"Vindik, this is the third time that you tried to sneak me out of my work. What is it this time?" I asked irritatedly.
He had a smile on his face that shows he had a plan and it isn't a good one.
He suddenly held my hand with excitement evident on his face.
"Ebony, there's a--"
"There will be a family reunion this weekend and Vindik wanted you to attend as his date." Cavis cuts him off without looking our way and his eyes on his phone.
