Demi POV:

I decided that it was time for a change in my life . I couldn't quite figure out what exactly what it was but all I know is that I need a change. I don't wanna a puppy or an animal because of how often I am on tour or at work. Plus they are too much work. I was laying in my bed and it finally hit me. I have always wanted to be a mom and I had been thinking about my trip to Africa a lot lately. I love the kids there. I know what I am going to do. I'm going to adopt a child from the local orphanage. Me thinking about being a mom made me smile widely. I fell asleep while thinking about becoming a mom. The next morning I woke up and gave the orphanage a call. An older woman answered the phone. "Hello?" the woman said. "Hi! My name is Demi Lovato. I was just wondering if I could stop by today and take a look at the 3 to 6 year old little girls. I am planning on adopting one." I told the lady. "Of course. I will put you down for around 12 today." "That sounds great. See you then!" I said hanging up the phone. I went up stairs to one of the spare bedrooms. It wasn't ready for a kid just yet but, we would get it ready together. I would take her shopping to buy paint, bedding, toys, clothes and anything else her little heart desired. The time passed quickly and I was on my way to the Orphanage. I couldn't wait to see all the little girls and chose one to adopt.

I arrived at an old building made of wood and bricks. I looked at my phone screen 12PM on the dot. I smiled and walked through the doors. I saw someone sitting at a desk in the front room. I walked over and to the lady that was sitting behind the desk. "Hi, I'm here to see the 3-6 year old girls. I told the lady with the grey hair. The lady stood and smiled at her. "You must be Ms Lovato. I'm Ms Higgins Im the care taker here." We shook hands and she led me to a different room. There were 12 girls in the room. I noticed one girl in the corner, she had blonde wavy hair. She was sitting by herself while the other girls ran around and played together. I walked over to her. "I sweetie. What's your name?" I asked her. She stayed quiet and kept looking at the floor. One little girl came up behind me and tugged on my jeans. "Her name is Aubree. She doesn't talk. She just sits there like a little baby." she said towards Aubree. Aubree buried her head in her knees. I scowled at the little girl who called her a baby. I bent down to her level. "Is your name Aubree?" I asked without taking my eyes off of her. She nodded her head yes. I smiled at her. "I'm Demi. I was wondering if I could be your friend. And maybe your new mommy?" The little brown haired girl that had told me Aubree's name widened her eyes. "No one wants to be friends with her! She's not even cute! I'm cute! See?" She said spinning around and batting her long eyelashes. I ignored the little burnete. "Would it be okay if I was your mommy?" I asked Aubree one more time. She sat there quietly and then nodded her head yes.

"I'll be right back." I told her. I walked over to Ms Higgins and tapped her on the shoulder. "I want to adopt Aubree." I told her. "She's a bit of a handful Ms Lovato. She has a very heavy past." Ms Higgins told  me. "I don't care what baggage she comes with. I want to adopt her and there is nothing you can say to make me change my mind." I told her stubbornly. She nodded and went into her office. I walked back over to Aubree. "Come on sweetie." I said holding out my hand for her to take. She took my hand and we walked over to Ms Higgins' office. I signed the paper to adopt Aubree. "Before you go Ms Lovato, you should know about her past. Her dad was an alcoholic and he may have hurt her in the past. Both of her parents died in a car crash last summer and thats how she ended up here."  She said looking down at Aubree. I tightened my grip around her little hand. I smiled at her and scooped her up. "Thank you for telling me and thank you for your services." I told her and we walked out the door.

The car ride home was quite mostly because Aubree had fallen asleep. I looked back at my little girl. All I could do was smile at her. She was so perfect in every way. We arrived home and I gently took Aubree out of her car seat. I carried her inside and laid her on the couch trying not to wake her. I was making a snack when I felt little arms wrap around the back of my legs. I looked behind me and the little brown eyed blonde haired girl had tears streaming down her face. I scooped her up and hugged her. "Shhh baby girl whats wrong?" She wouldn't talk. She kept crying and began to shake. "Shhhhh..." I told her. I started rubbing her back in small circles. She eventually calmed down. I sat down on one of the chairs and set Aubree in my lap. She laid her head against my chest and sucked her thumb. I kissed the top of her head. "Its okay sweetie. Ive got you. Mommy's got you." I whispered in her ear.
