My Love Is Like a Star

Chapter 4

       Aubree had left the table and was now playing with all her new toys we had gotten her. I was ordering her bedding for her room and her bedroom set. Everything but the bed. When I finished I went over and started playing dolls with her. She has quite the imagination. While we were playing my phone vibrated, it was a text from Nick Jonas. 

        Hey Demi! Can't wait to see you tomorrow! I have so many ideas for tour! 

        I smiled at reading this text but there was one thing I was worried about and that was when he meets Aubree. I really hope he doesn't scare her or anything. I texted him back.

        Can't wait for tomorrow too! Its been too long! You get to meet my amazing little girl tomorrow too! =)

        I looked over at Aubree and she began to yawn and rub her eyes. 3:30 on the dot. Nap time I thought to myself. "Come on sweetie lets go take a nap." She held her arms up and I picked her up. She nuzzled her head into my hair. I climbed the stairs and into her room. I tried to lay her on her bed but she wouldn't let go. "Come on baby you need to take your nap. 3 year olds have to so they can be big girls." I told her. "Mommy snuggle me pwease." she said to me with her big brown eyes. I couldn't say no so I laid with her in her bed until she fell asleep. I quietly sneaked out of the room. I decided to pick up my house since it was a mess. Full of toys everywhere and food containers. I picked up Aubree's toys and put them in the bin and then I went and did the dishes. After I finished I went and checked on Aubree. She was still sound asleep, I must have really wore her out at the mall today. Another text from Nick came.

        Mind if I come over today and meet this daughter of yours? I don't wanna scare her or anything tomorrow. Rather do it in environment where she is comfortable.

I smiled at the thought of Nick coming over. I can't be having these thoughts or feelings for him. He's my best friend, but best friends can have feelings for each other right? I thought about it and then I decided why not we can spend some time together. 

Sure. She is taking a nap right now but you are more than welcome to come over right now or later. Whichever you prefer. 

        Shit! That means I have to clean the whole house before Nick gets here. I frantically started picking up the living room. *DING* My phone another text.

Okay! I'll be over in like a half hour! See you then. 

        Great. A half hour to get this messy house cleaned up before Nick gets here. I don't know why I wanna make an impression on him. I mean..I don't like him or anything...or at least I don't think I do. I was almost finished cleaning the living room when a knock came at the door. "Hold on just a second!" I yelled at the door. Shoved whatever I had in my hands into the closet next to the bathroom. I walked over to the door and looked through the peep hole. It was Nick. I opened the door. "Hey Demi." Nick said. "Hey Jonas. Come on in." I said gesturing for him to come into the house. We sat down on the couch. "Wow. You cleaned up in here." He said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes at him. "Yea you gave me a half hour to clean my entire house." I said. He laughed. "So how have you been? How's the whole mom thing for you?" "I've been good. And its been a good ride so far. She is the best little girl ever." I said with a huge smile on my face. Nick looked at me with his big brown eyes that reminded me of Aubree's. He scooted closer to me on the couch. "How old is she?" "She's 3. She'll be 4 in August. Which is great cause we can celebrate our birthdays together. Her's is August 29th." I told Nick. "So what happened with you and Wilmer?" He asked looking at the coffee table in front of us. "He...he cheated again. I was just done with all his shit. And quite honestly I am kinda grateful for Aubree she has been taking my mind off of everything." "Have you said anything about tour to her?" He asked me. "No not yet. I was planning on telling her tonight and explaining everything to her. Like how everything is going to work while we're on tour."

        I hadn't noticed but Nick but his arm on the back of the couch behind me where I was sitting. I smiled a little.  I looked at Nick who was staring at me. I didn't know what to do. I had this strange but, good feeling with him. I knew I was falling for him but, I couldn't say anything because I didn't want to ruin our great friendship. "Demi there's something I have to tell you." He said to me. I heard a door open and then a little girl came down the stairs. Grrrrr. She woke up and it had to be at this moment.  Oh well. I smiled I as I watched her rub her eyes and come down the stairs. She looked at me and paused not knowing who Nick was. "Its okay baby girl. This is my friend Nick. Come over and say hi." I told her. She slowly made her way over. She climbed up on to me and laid her head on my shoulder and nuzzled her way into my hair. "Aubree this is Nick. He's a good friend of mommy's. He's really nice. Can you please say hi to him?" I asked her. She waved her little hand to him still hiding in my hair. "Hi Aubree." Nick said sweetly. I smiled at his effort to be friends with her. They both would see each other a lot on my tour. I kissed the top of her head. "I love you baby." I whispered to her. I held her for awhile. Nick and I chatted a bit about different things. Everything but the tour because he knew that I still hadn't told Aubree about it and I didn't know how she would take it. 

        Aubree had warmed up to Nick after a few hours. "Aubree did you show Nick your earrings?" I asked her. She gently pushed back her hair and showed him the flowers that were in her ears. "I got them today." She said quietly. He smiled at her. "They're beautiful just like you." He said to her. She smiled widely and so did I.
