My Love Is Like a Star

Chapter 8

After we dropped of Maddie we headed home. I hadn't heard any noise from the back seat so at the stop light I turned around and found my baby girl asleep in her car seat. I smiled, she looked so adorable when she was sleeping. When we got home I walked around to Aubree's side of the car. She was silently crying. I didn't know why. I pulled her out and sat with her on the passanger's seat. with her . I just kept whispering how much I loved her. She finally calmed down. I kissed her cheeks and her forehead. "I love you baby girl. So very much." I . "Mommy?" her little voice said. "Yes baby?" "Can you sing?" I laughed. Aubree loved when I sang to her. She loved when I sang to her. Ever since I adopted her I have sang to her at bed time to help calm her down. I decided to sing My Love Is Like A Star.

The space in between us

I heard a small slow breathing and I knew she had fallen back asleep. I carried her inside the house and decided that I would lay her on the couch instead of back up to her room. I walked into the kitchen and checked my text messages on my phone. There were 3 from Nick saying that we needed to meet up so we could rehearse for the Neon Lights tour. I sighed thinking about him and what it would be like to date him. I smiled to myself and was broke out of my day dream when I felt little arms wrap around my legs. I bent down and picked up my little girl. "I love you Bree. So very much." I said as I hugged her. "I wove you too mama." I loved when she talked like that to me. It made me smile. "You know Aubree we have to go see Nick soon. I have to do some rehearsing with him." She smiled. She liked Nick, she thought he was nice and that he was funny. I started humming quietly and Aubree set her head on my shoulder and I played with her hair. I walked over to the music room with Aubree still on my hip, I picked up the guitar and set Aubree on the floor. I began to play Catch Me. Aubree smiled at me and she sat down and watched me play for awhile. When I finished playing Aubree clapped her little hands. I hadn't realized how mesmerized she had been while I was playing.

"I think its time for me to order us dinner." I said with a smile. I scooped up my little girl and walked out of the room. I picked up my phone off the table and called the Italian food place and ordered dinner for us. Aubree went up stairs to her room to play until dinner got here It took about 15 minutes."Aubree dinner time sweetie." I called from the dining room. She came running down the stairs; she walked into the room and sat at the table. I was proud of her for coming when I called her. I fixed her plate and sat it in front of her. I sat across from her eating the pasta and salad that I ordered. I noticed that she was only picking at her food and that her eyes were drooping. I could tell she was tired. Even though we didn't have an eventful day she still wore herself out. I decided that it was time for a bath and then bed time. I carried her up to the bathroom and started the to run the bath. I helped her undress and placed her gently into the tub. I washed her long wavy blonde hair. I loved playing with her hair. It was so soft and so beautiful and it sorta reminded me of mine in away.

I finished up and took her out of the bathtub. I put her in her PJs and laid her in her bed. (Thats right her own bed). I was going to see if this would work tonight. I tucked her in and sang Nightingale to her. She was asleep I kissed her head and whispered to her. "I love you princess." I walked out of the room and closed the door just to crack it. I went down stairs and decided to call Nick because it was only 8pm and I knew he'd still be up.

"Hey Nick."

"Demi! Hi!"

"I got your text message earlier. Sorry I didn't respond I have been really busy with Aubree. I think that any day this week will do with rehearsal." I said

" Well I am free tomorrow. How is that?"

"Aubree will have to come with me because at the moment I have no one to watch her."

"Okay. I like when she's around. She's so cute." He said laughing.

"What time do you wanna meet and where do you wanna meet?"

"Hmmmm...how about we say noon and at your place okay? Just so that Aubree has things to do."

"Sounds good to me."

"Alright well I gotta go but I'll see you tomorrow Dems."

"Okay. Bye Nick."

With that we hung up the phone. And I turned off the lights execpt the kitchen light and walked up stairs to my room. I walked passed Aubree's room and she was still asleep in her own bed. That made really happy. I walked into my room and changed into my pjs and jumped into bed and fell into a deep sleep.
