My Love Is Like a Star

Chapter 24

I sit quietly as I wait for everyone’s reaction about Nick and I getting engaged.  Everyone starts to smile and become super happy for us.  Everyone except Joe. Which I don’t really even give a shit about his opinion cause we didn’t even really date for what a month give or take.   “Congrats guys!” My mom finally says after a minute.  Everyone starts to talk about the wedding plans. I am so happy that everyone is taking this really well.  I watch as Joe gets up from the table and walks into the kitchen.  Nick follows him into the kitchen.  “Mama?” Aubree says. I look down at my little green eyed girl. “I go play now?” She asks yawning. “Sure bug you can go play.” I say smiling.  I watch her tug on Maddie trying to get her to go play up stairs with her in her room.  I giggle and take my plate into the kitchen where I over hear Nick and Joe talking. “Why Nick why did you have to propose to her?” Joe asks. “Because I am in love with her. I will always love her and Aubree no matter what happens.  I honestly don’t want your blessing. This is my decision and I choose to marry the girl of my dreams.  I love her with every part of my being Joe and if you can’t accept that then oh well sorry for you.” Joe rolls his eyes at him. I make noise to let them know that I have walked into the room.  Joe  stares at me with a mad look in his eyes. He stops me before I get to the sink. “I really don’t like you right now.” He whispers so Nick can’t hear him.  I walk past him hitting his shoulder and I start to do the dishes. “Babe go visit I’ll do these.” Nick says wrapping his arms around  my waist and kissing my neck. “Why don’t we do them together.” I suggest not wanting to sit out there and discuss wedding details with my mom and sisters. He nods and I start to wash the dishes.  I splash water at him and give him a smirk. “Oh is that how we’re going to do this?” He says grabbing some soap bubbles and putting them in my hair. I gasp and splash him with more water.  He pushes me into the corner of the counter and smashes his lips against mine.  Holding me there for a bit. “Babe.” I breath out. “We need to finish these dishes there’s people here.” I say putting my hand on his face. “You owe me.”  He whispers.

                After we finish the dishes we go sit with everyone in the living room. “Demi when did you guys get engaged.” Dani asks me. “Yesterday at Disneyland.” I say smiling. I flash back to the moment that felt so surreal. We all sit around for awhile longer and chat about everything and then everyone leaves. I walk upstairs to find my little girl asleep on the floor holding one of her dolls. I smile and pick her up trying not to wake my princess up. I change her into her pjs and then tuck her into bed. I climb into bed with Nick. “I love you Demi. No matter what anyone says I love you and I want you and Aubree all to myself.” He says just before he kisses my lips. “I love you too Nick.” I say laying my head on his chest.  In the middle of the night my door opens just a crack and a little messy haired little girl peeks in rubbing her eyes. “What is it baby?” I whisper. “I wanna sleep with you.” She says starting to cry. “Come here baby.”  Aubree comes running to my side of the bed. I pick her up and hold her tight as she cries softly. “Shhhh buggy. Ive got you.” I tell her rocking her just a little bit. “You can take everything I have you can break everything I am like I’m made of glass. Like I’m made of paper go on and try to tear me down I will be rising from the ground like a skyscraper like a skyscraper.”  I sing to her I feel her relax and I lay her in between me and Nick. I kiss her head and lay down and pull her close to me. “I love you baby girl always.” I say just before I fall asleep.                        

The next morning I wake up to my little girl curled up into my chest still sound asleep. I hug her and look over at Nick who is surprisingly still asleep. I get up quietly to take a shower. When I come back out Aubree is cuddled into Nick’s chest with one of his arms around her. I decide to take a picture of them and post it on Twitter with the caption Daddy and his little princess. I have the perfect boyfriend and daughter. I finish getting myself ready before two little arms wrap around my legs. I turn around and pick up her up. “Good morning sunshine.” I say kissing her cheek. She lays her head on my shoulder acting if she were still tired. I walk out of the bathroom and find Nick already up and dressed. “Morning babe.” He says walking over and kissing me and Aubree. “I was thinking that we could go to the movies today.” He said. Aubree’s eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. “Sounds like fun.” I say smiling. Nick walks down stairs and starts making breakfast for us as always. I go and change Aubree into leggings and a shirt that says Daddy’s little girl on it. Once we finish breakfast we decide to go out and shop before we head to the movies.  We decide to go see a kids movie since Aubree is with us.

After the movie we decide to take Aubree out for ice cream.  We get to the ice cream parlor where we are swarmed by fans.  We hurry inside and order our ice cream. Aubree gets chocolate and I get Vanilla. “Babe don’t you want ice cream?” I ask Nick.  “No I’ll have some of yours.” He says smirking. I roll my eyes at him. He pays for our ice cream and we sit down together at a small table.  “Babe?”  I say to Nick. “Yes D.” “I need to talk to you when we get home its about something that happened the other night at dinner.” I say looking down at the floor. Nick puts his hand in mine and rubs the top with his thumb. “Okay we’ll talk when we get home.” He says sweetly. I look up at him and smile. “mama look.” Aubree says. I look over at her and she has chocolate all over her face but she got it on her nose ands she’s trying to get it off with her tongue and her eyes are crossed.  I laugh at her funny face, “Oh my gosh Bree what are you doing?” I say laughing “Trying to get the ice cream off my nose.” She says giggling.  I take her picture of her funny face and post it on Twitter with the caption My little chocolate girl trying to get her ice cream off her nose.  “Come here you silly girl so I can clean you up.” I say grabbing a wipe from my bag.  I clean her up and finish my ice cream.  Nick grabs my hand and I grab Aubree’s  and we walk out the door to our car.
