The scent of sizzling meat catches your senses. Steak, bacon, chicken, fish... Whatever they'd found was now grilling up nicely on this huge barbecue that Jin had made Taehyung and Jungkook drag over from a nearby park together, just to play with their ego.
Hoseok and Namjoon got the fireworks ready, sorting the types between themselves. You marinate the potatoes and onions to be wrapped up in foil and chucked into the fire. Jin's mind when it came to cooking had no limits. His aim was really to make everyone stuff themselves until they were as big as balloons and could no longer walk. Jimin carries in a bunch of new clothes and crockery and other items under the aurhorization if Jin onto the ship.
"You sure he's gonna be okay with that?" You say a little doubtful as to what Yoongi would think about the mini washing machine Jimin was pushing up the plank.
"Who cares?" Jin says flipping the meat. "I make the rules around here."
You pass him your preparations with pride and in satisfaction he pokes them into the red/white hot embers. You almost drool as you imagine the taste of all of this. The rice cooking on the stove and the thick hard bread sort of like pita bread but not quite like, toasted and steaming hot. Nothing special.
"Mm Y/N come here, " Jin beckons. He picks up a piece of meat in his flippers and holds it in front of you. "Try this. "
You catch it between your teeth and chew on it. The taste of tender smoking chicken with hints of lime and herbs and paprika coat your tongue.
"Oh man holy shit!" You gasp.
"I know right, " Jin grins confidently.
"Hyung can I have some?" Jungkook jumps forward eagerly, mouth already dropping open like a dog. Jin looks at him, ready to refuse.
"No. Go away. "
"What? That's so unfair. "
Jin slaps a piece of bacon into the boy's open mouth, causing Jungkook to jerk his head backwards in startlement. You can't help laughing by the look on his face.
"I'm changing the music, " Jimin announces, shuffling through the playlist. "What's with all these songs? Lie? The Truth Untold? What are you trynna get at Yoongi hyung? "
Yoongi puffs out his cigarette looking so in his zen that not even an earthquake could deter him. "I listen to music that represents my life. "
"Oh how about this song then? Blanket Kick?"
Namjoon, Jin and Hoseok burst out laughing in unison. Jimin, looks up so innocently, not getting the joke as he'd been genuinely serious.
"What should I play? " Jimin murmurs to. himself, trying to decide. Wiping your hands on your apron, you slide it to the back like a cape and move to sit beside Jimin, to take a break. You watch as he scrolls through the phone intently.
"Any preferences?" He asks kindly.
"Uh.. yeah actually, " You say, taking the device from him. He waits curiously.
"What's that? "
"How about you sing for us?" You grin at him.
His falls backwards taken aback, eyes wide with horror. "You're joking right? "
"I'm not singing, " He replies, avoiding the question and taking the phone back from you. "It's not my thing. "
"Food's ready, " Jin announces. No one needs a second telling. Dropping whatever they are doing they rush over like kids tumbling out on the last day of school. Everyone self serves and the sound of chewing and cutlery and talking commences.
