81: Elephants Can Remember

You'd never been so relieved to see a wild creature ever before. The beast, grown immensely larger now jumps forward  onto the scene. His fur is blazing like the fire all about you and through your smoky-eyes vision you can see all the hairs on his back standing on end. The small puppy-like animal had grown to the size of two tigers. The patterns of intricate curves and wavy lines run across his body forming hearts and flowers and all other sorts of beautiful mutations. You hardly have time to admire him before he whips his large head in your direction, mane fluttering in the wind of the fire. His eyes land upon yours, fierce looking eyebrows shrouded low.

Jin, Jimin and Hoseok stumble backwards at once, terrified of this new appearance. Taehyung however, stumbles forward at once joyful to have reunited with the creature. He embraces it carefully, arms stretched out cautiously and welcomingly. "Tannie!!"

Yoongi wastes no time. Nudged forward by Namjoon he sets himself in front of the giant creature. Nose wrinkling like a dog when baring his teeth he stares into the eyes of the creature, communicating at once. He cocks his head to the side, not parting his lips once. Wordlessly he talks with Yeontan as the creature watches him warily. They stare right into each other's eyes, bowing their heads ever so often. Their silent exchange was a fascinating technique you would  never be able to understand.

Meanwhile, Jimin can no longer hold it. Perhaps as being the shortest one and thus exposed to the smoke rising from the ground or perhaps because of his general sensitivity he breaks out in a horrible series of itchy coughs. The sound of his suffering pangs your heart. You turn around to see his eyes squeezed shut as he clutches his throat. With every cough his entire body shakes. It's like he's inhaling smoke. Oxygen hardly gets through. Tears fall down his cheeks with the effort and he tries to speak, perhaps for help but then falls forward. This time it's worse, as he cough louder again and again and again so painfully you're afraid he's going to cough up blood or something worse. Hoseok hauls him up at once and Jimin covers his nose and mouth with the edge of his shirt. He could barely open his eyes and now he can barely breathe.

"Hy-"

"I'm here," Jin says at once pulling Jimin into him. He presses his arms into Jimin's neck and chest as if to provoke oxygen like that but Jin himself is struggling with his own breathing. It was getting dire. You turn back to Yoongi who motions towards you. You approach at once followed by Jungkook. He moves close to your faces to get his words across. "Get...g-get on."

Watching Jimin behind you, he rubs his eyes and adds. "Get him on."

"On it?" You ask gesturing to Yeontan. You suppose Yoongi would have responded with a sarcastic comment if he had more words to spare. But he didn't. Instead he just nods. Jungkook gets the gesture and runs back to the group behind. He comes back in seconds pulling - almost dragging - a croaking Jimin along with him. You help him to haul the man onto the back of this large beast. You don't even know what's going on anymore or if this is a safe idea. You just had to trust Yoongi. As well as this suspicious creature. Yoongi, unable to form words anymore, prods Jin forward as well. Jin looks at Yoongi a little wide-eyed and reluctant. But, with the pressure of the rest he is forced onto the beast. Jimin falls forward and Jin grabs him at once. Before he could even climb on a loud roar interrupts the entire scenario.

A large thundering breaks through the crashing and burning of the fire. You jump at once, backing into Namjoon who grabs onto you for his own support as well. In the same direction, three other crying figures leap into the clearing. You let out an unheard scream.

It was like three other Yeontans. Large, bustling, demanding creatures eyes bulging and teeth dripping. They were truly ferocious and looked even more unruly that Tannie himself. One snap and you were just as easily crunched apart. You shudder despite the heat, scared for you life. To your utmost horror Yoongi pushes you forward along, like a mother encouraging her child on their first day of school. Yoongi pulls Jungkook forward suddenly jerking his head towards Hoseok, "st-still we-ak. Careful." Jungkook nods, obeying Hoseok at once before grabbing the man's arm and marching towards the nearest animal.
