You let out a deep sigh, lunging your bag higher up on your shoulders. Your throat was dry and you were exhausted even though you'd only been walking for a few hours. Jin looks at you through the side of his eye, biting his lower lip in concern. The past two days of travel all that he's witnessed is a complete drop in social atmosphere. There were still conversations but they were dull, negative and full of caution. Dark jokes, nervous laughter and sometimes even pure silences. He could understand it, given the psychological situation at hand. You'd all been through so much and perhaps nothing could ever help you to move on from it. The endless walking gave you all too much time to reflect and even if no one wanted to mention it there was great potential that you might be lost despite the map. The map said you were close but nothing seemed to be true anymore. He'd supposed everyone was just tired, exhausted from the fear and pain and wariness. They wanted it all to be over, to just go home and it was extremely frustrating that it was not that easy. Emotions bubbles up and heads were filled with despair. The symptoms were familiar among harsh standards such as these.
Depression.
It was crawling over the group. The will to live was slowly ceasing and people started to talk less because anything they could talk about made them sad. Discussions of the past, the present or the future only seemed to end with a hanging weight that further pressed down the heart. He could see from his own eyes how during meals there were less arguments. Jimin had begun to lose his appetite and Jungkook no longer lingered for dessert. On top of it all everyone went to bed earlier not just because they had to wake up early as well but because it was the only way they could escape the horrors of reality. Seeing a perfectly good team fall apart especially composed with people he'd grown to love upset him. Despite his power Jin knew that even he could not cure depression.
But he had to do something.
But what? You looks around himself, lagging a little behind on the group. It was just another town, not unfamiliar landscape. Towns were always helpful signs for travelers but it had done nothing to brighten your spirits. If anything it had just been another reminder that this place was not home especially the haunting skeleton of humanity. Normal towns were bustling with activity, street artists and musicians, water fountains, people with shopping bags, conversation...life. This place looked like a set from the Walking Dead.
As he scans his surroundings his eyes suddenly catch a very odd building off on the side. Big slabs of steps piled upon one another led to the antique front doors. Large colosseum like pillars supported its rickety structure, making it look like a museum. However, it seemed to be just the right thing for Jin.
"Stop," he commands suddenly. Everyone turns to look at him in equal disinterest. Taehyug chew half-heartedly on nothing as the rest of you listen to what he has to say. Instead, Jin moves to the first few steps, gesturing for everyone to follow suit.
"L-let's take a little break here. Massage our calves, take a snack..."
"But we just starte-"
"We can't go on like this," Jin cuts Jimin short suddenly. He lets out a deep exhalation.
"I mean look at us," you hear Jin say desperately. As he speaks, you plop down on the steps, lying backwards tiredly. Yoongi follows you and soon everyone is chilling on the ground exhausted even if they'd barely walked a few miles. "We've become sober on life. And I know it's all probably hopeless and we're going to die and we miss our family blah blah blah but we can't help it alright? We've come this far, we're at the end and we can't just let these thought consume us. We're a team and we can fight anything, yes, anything. I can't allow this powerful team loosen into some sloppy, drooling, lazy group of teenagers on a field trip. This is life and you're going have to deal with it. It's not always sprightly. So we have got to fix this."
