Are you still awake?
You sigh, moving again trying to get comfortable. It actually not that bad, the sleeping bag was warm with space for leg room, you had stocked up some books to help you fall asleep and you'd left the latch a little open to avoid claustrophobia. The ropes and belts that held in your place made you feel secured and it was all in all quite cosy. Yet you couldn't get off your mind the fact that you were sleeping
upside down.
That's right. Peeking through the door to the sleeping chamber you could see the "floor" of the spaceship and the sleeping chamber opposite. Unlike yours, the door was firmly shut to block out the soft neon light of the active ship that flickered beside your chamber. You could see the door of the bathroom at the uppermost corner looking downside up like in a mirror reflection and some cable boxes also much closer to your than they were supposed to be.
You'd lost that dratted game of rock paper scissors and were left with the only sleeping chamber that was dug into the ceiling. It was worse than the side chambers, that caved into the wall because it was directly parallel to the floor. In fact as Namjoon liked to put it "there is no sense of gravity on space, so technically you aren't actually upside down," but you couldn't get it out of your mind that you were sleeping like a body strapped to the ceiling. It made you extremely restless besides the rest of the adventures you'd experienced.
A lot was going through your head. Being in space, being lost in space, seeing planets and stars, seeing everyone confined in their spacesuits, sleeping in a chamber like this. It seemed like a whole lucid dream and you were sure tomorrow morning you'd wake up thinking so. With all of these thoughts juggling back and forth Jungkook's voice in your head was a sort of light from this tunnel of insanity.
Yeah.
I can't sleep.
Me neither. At least you're not sleeping upside down. I can't get it off my mind. What if I fall off the ceiling and smash my face onto the ground?
When there is no response from his side, your suspicions arouse. He usually answered immediately, so there could only be one reason for the delay.
Are you laughing?
I'm not. It's just- a fumbling from his side catches your curiosity again. The response had been to quick.
Don't lie, you such a liar.
You won't fall, you're well strapped in, aren't you? I promise.
Easy for you to say.
Well if you want. .. he hesitates as if rethinking carefully what he was about to propose. You can sleep here. In my chamber.
Your heart lights up at once at the prospect. He'd give up his room? Lucky golden bastard had gotten one that was dug into the real floor, where gravity was supposed to be.
Wait really?
Yeah.
You'll switch with me? Okay I'm getting out now. Tha-
Switch? A momentary pause follows and then the stumbled explanation comes after. No way, I'd never give up my spot. No...I meant that...you can sleep in here with me...if you want.
Your mind goes blank for a few seconds. He was...inviting you to his sleeping chamber? It makes you burrow yourself deeper in your sleeping bag just at the thought. It was so awkward. It was Jungkook and that meant it would be different for the both of you. Beyond that what would the others think if they woke up to the both of you sleeping beside each other? What would Namjoon your newfound brother think? Oh no...what would Yoongi think? That last thought terrifies you.
