"Something's coming."
Those two words are quick to raise the adrenaline levels in your body, and almost as if equipped with a new battery, you feel the surge of its energy winding through your bloodstream. Your heart beats fast but this time you don't blank out or freeze or lose yourself into endless panic. This time you're prepared. You don't hesitate to move, like a triggered response, in the opposite direction only before you're stopped at the sight of the blank dead end of a wall that was the end of the spaceship. You could run but the thing was, there was no where to run.
What is it this time?
Jungkook's thoughts make you turn curiously to see him and the others already moving restlessly in the opposite direction leaving you like some coward looking to run away.
Come on, coward.
You turn at once, now triggered emotionally by Jungkook's honest insult and join the others up front. Whatever danger was coming you had to face it together, after all. You swim your way quickly through the empty space, holding the side of the wall to prop you up into the cockpit where you look eagerly and afraid at whatever it was that had caused the sudden commotion. Pressing your front against Jin and Hoseok's back, you try push you way through the big figures to have a peep at the enemy.
Whatever it was that you had expected it wasn't this. You'd been thinking meteorite, comet, asteroid, planet, moon, spaceship, alien but the object that was looming closer to the ship ever so slowly looked extremely harmless. In fact, you could hardly see it not to mention identify the cucumber-like object floating into your vision.
"What is that?" Hoseok says, his face expression showing exactly his disgust and curiosity.
"Move, I can't see."
"Too bad you're short."
"I'M NOT."
"Hyung what is it?" Yoongi leans closer wanting to answer that very question himself. He squints his eyes in confusion as if that would help narrow his vision but the light inside the ship made it hard to understand what was going on in the dark outside. It wasn't like you could use a torchlight either.
"Turn off that beeping noise, please," you plead, the siren ringing in your ears continously like a ticking bomb. Hoseok, sensitive to sound, was already ahead of you searching among the group of people pressed into the cockpit for the radar controls. As the red light slowly fades as well as the high pitched squeal you're able to calm yourself a little more and cool down the panic of danger.
Managing to steal the gap that Hoseok had vacated before you press your nose to the screen. It was terrifying in the way that you felt like you had your face against the back-net of a football goal and the ball was flying in your direction. You felt like at any moment now something would crash into the spaceship and explode everyone into bits.
"I see it," Jimin says suddenly, perception skills rising to an upgrade as his brain works fast. "It's ... it's like ... its- '
"What is it?" the rest of your ask impatiently, looking around frantically for the object. It was like that time Taehyung had seen the flood coming from afar and wasn't able to bring the words to describe it. It left a person tongue-tied. Out here, you couldn't even guess what was heading your way.
"JIMIN," Namjoon barks in urgency, making your jump in your skin. You'd never heard him sound so scared.
"Hy-hyung I ... it's not-"
Taehyung sympathizing with Jimin gives him the space he needs to speak, knowing how hard it was to describe things you'd never expected to see in such a scenario. This one made you especially uneasy because it didn't seem like something grand or big but in fact small and sharp because otherwise the rest of you would have seen it by now. Not wanting to add the pressure to Jimin, you couldn't help feel agitated and impatient yourself.
