Y/N I'm here~

You smile, despite yourself as you stand up and walk down the hall to the front door, pausing in front of the mirror to see how you looked. You'd promised Jungkook it would be a proper date which meant that you'd try and take it seriously. Therefore, you'd made the effort to dress up by wearing a nice outfit and doing your hair which, as you now looked in the mirror for the last time, you thought was pretty decent and not too overboard.

As soon as you open the door a beautiful assortment of handpicked flowers are pushed into your hands. Taking it slowly, you look beyond them to the man smiling and now blushing as he looks at you, observing your reaction which makes you, in turn shy.

What does she think? Is she happy? Does she not like flowers? What's with that look? Should I have gotten roses instead?

"Woah," Namjoon grins, suddenly appearing behind you as he looks at the flowers. "Jeon Jungkook! Long time no see. We haven't heard anything from you guys for a while, how are you doing?"

He stops short when he sees the flowers in your hand and the way Jungkook was standing so formally on the doorstep like he wasn't here for a visit. Looking from you to Jungkook and back again Namjoon raises his eyebrows, a surprised expression travelling over his face.

"What's with the flowers and everything, though? Are you guys going on a date or something?"

He smirks playfully after that as if it was ridiculous but the silence that follows has him concerned.

"Yeah," you admit, looking down at the flowers. "We played again and I lost."

"Wait really?" Namjoon's eyebrows go even higher up his forehead and he laughs out loud, giving you that look that a sibling would give his sibling if their crush showed up at the door. "H-how did that happen? What game did you play?"

"Chess."

"Chess?!" Namjoon repeats, turning to look at you horrified. He coughs a little, completely incredulous by that answer as he looks from you to Jungkook and back again. Looking at you again, more accusingly, he says:

"You lost at chess? To Jungkook?"

You give him a sheepish look, trying to ignore that aspect of broken pride and self-esteem that had come with your grandiose failure of losing. "Yeah, he's good at everything, it's insane. And now this is our date, as was the deal."

"What?" Namjoon sputters, in disbelief, still trying to figure out how Jungkook the athletic impulsive idiot was beat by his supposedly smart, well-read sister at chess. "Are you kidding?"

"Anyways," Jungkook says, nodding his head at Namjoon. "We'll be off now. Bye hyung."

"Uh...okay I guess," Namjoon says, a half amused half confused smile on his face. " You better treat her nice, huh, Jungkook?"

"Don't worry hyung," Jungkook smiles as he takes your hand in his. "I've been waiting for this day for a long time now."

With that he holds your hand more firmly in his and leads you down the street, away from your house and the door and Namjoon and out into the beautiful day to the equally promising date he has planned out.

You look down at the way the both of you were holding hands already five minutes into the day and your heart warms a little. It wasn't uncomfortable because it Jungkook and you'd known him for long enough now for this gesture to not be inappropriate. However, in this context, you don't really know what to think about it as you trace it up to his face. He'd made an effort too, by wearing a simple but not too simple outfit to match yours, one that indicates something more than friendship bit a little less than a relationship...the place where the both of you stood right now. Above all, the haircut that you'd given him, now long grown into a mullet had not changed despite the many opportunities now to go to a salon.
