The feeling of a million little tiny grains of sand brushing against your skin was what woke you. The unfamiliar feeling of...being touched by something warm, damp and rough.
You don't know how long you'd been sleeping but it felt like as soon as you'd felt the ground beneath you, you'd knocked out. Exhausted, hungry and extremely hungover by fear and confusion you'd just shut down without caring much for where you were. But now waking up to the itchy feeling of beach sand, saltiness and a late afternoon sun you started to become aware of your surroundings.
The boys lay strewn about like someone had dropped them there. A few were already awake, others stirring like you and shaking each other awake. You couldn't just lie here after all, this beach wasn't yours anymore.
The sounds of their conversation attract you as you sit up, rubbing your head, listening lazily.
'So breaking the ship was a horrible idea. Look at these wounds!"
"I didn't feel it before, I hardly noticed. Those metal parts were sharp."
"There's a burn here too."
"Give me I'll deal with the injuries."
"Hyung you have barely enough energy to keep yourself alive."
You nod in agreement. Standing up to move closer you hiss at the sharp pain in your right foot. Injuries. You all had them. Falling through the sky with a spacecraft splintering to pieces was no joke. Those pieces both big and small had not failed to showed down onto you.
It was strange. Like they'd said, you hadn't noticed the pain before and somehow it only hurt now that you'd noticed it. As you find the courage to look back down at the bleeding, you're able to make out a definite slash that has ripped the skin apart. You hadn't felt it at all, perhaps the adrenaline in falling had numbed out that fact, but you were certain that it had to be a pointy material part that had wounded you. You breathe faster as you feel the pounding pain of the wound like your heart was pumping within it. To hide the pain you look up, observing the wounds of others in hope that their empathy would give you reassurance. However, you soon realised that this wound added to the dizzying pull of gravity that you were unused to making it difficult for you to even locate and use your legs.
"How are you Taehyung-ah?" you hear Hoseok say as Taehyung stretches his wings, shaking them loose. He winces at the pain in his feathers and wing muscles, wriggling his body. The ache in the stiffness of his wings having not used them in so long was an irritation to him.
"Argh...this sucks," he complains, retracting his wings back inside his body.
You turn to the left to Namjoon at the water's edge caressing the dolphin's head. It warmed your heart; he seemed to have some affiliation to sea creatures, a certain soft spot for then. In turn, they too, were fond of him. you didn't know if dolphins could smile but that one was definitely grinning at Namjoon.
"Y/N."
You turn at the call of your name to see Jungkook looking down at you. He squats beside you, his height still giving him an advantage with a mysterious, almost anxious, expression on his face.
"Yeah?" you say, unsure of what he wanted.
"Where's the wound?"
"Huh?"
Before you can reply, he's reached for your foot, noticing the splotches of red across you ankle. It wasn't a major injury and no one had really noticed it so as he runs his thumb over the blood, dirtying his own skin, you wonder how he knew.
I knew like this.
Oh, right.
This is hurting you, right?
