A Shape-Shifter

Once I was hiking on this 3 day hiking adventure with a friend(Let's call him Matt). We had a guide with us, a local let's call him Mr.A who we met in a local pub. He offered to guide us to the forest.

A little back story is that the locals had warned us not to go at this season as the solstice was nearing. (Sounds like Avatar IK). We went anyway, the guide gave us protective charms just in case. We being the young hot-blooded idiots we were the them away when he wasn't looking.

The first day passed without anything random. The scenery was excellent and the air was clean. However,on the second day, things started going wrong. I was woken up at midnight because Matt shook me awake. He said he had woken up to go for a loo. When he came back, he saw the guide getting up and heading to a random location, deeper in the forest. He woke me up to see what the guide was doing. We hid in the bushes. The guide was stripping slowly in the middle of the jungle. Then he began to morph. It was the most horrendous thing I've ever saw. The transformation was silent. Nothing cracked, no shouts, nothing. It's head was bigger than it's body which was pink and deformed. The eye sockets almost gone. My friends covered our mouth to keep ourselves from screaming.

The monster silently rushed to our camp. After sometime we heard a blood curling scream and huge stomping. The cry was like an infant's scream and a huge roar. I still shiver when I hear it. It made it's way towards us. I was shivering. I saw the terrified looks of my friends as they tried to not make a sound themselves. We prayed hard that night. Somehow we managed to go through the night with occasional roars keeping us alert. At the first sight of morning, we dashed to the trail we came through. It took less time then when we entered the forest.

The sight of town was relieving. We went to the shaman and told him everything. He was not surprised. He told us to leave immediately and never return again. I have never believed in the paranormal but this Shape-Shifter, this abomination of a being changed all of that.
