Knocking on my door at 4am

This'll probably get lost because this thread is so huge but here goes... A few hours ago I was on my phone (it was around 4am) because I had a sense of dread come over me. After scrolling through my explore page on Instagram for a bit, I heard faint knocking on my back door. At first I thought I was just imagining it, then it got louder. I thought maybe it was my mom and she had locked herself out after watering the plants (??) then I remembered she had stayed up late the night before and was most definitely not up. It wasn't my brother because he is always asleep till at earliest 10:00. I was contemplating getting up and checking it but decided against it after seeing stories on Reddit about stuff like this. After the knocking got louder and louder, it just stopped. I bet they looked through our front window and saw my two huge dogs. One of the scariest things ever though.
