The special birthday night

This so happened this year on my birthday. I just turned 16 and it was just a normal day. The morning of the day i spent the day at IHOP with Friends and family. After we left IHOP i wanted to go to the store to get myself a gift. Since my grandma said i was too old for gifts. When i was in the store checking out. A man was behind me. He was old, looked nice, and seem well okay. He had a smile on his face. I tried my best to smile back at him. He then said to me "is it your birthday?" "Yes." I said nicely. He kept smiling at me. "You have a nice present." I looked at present. Then notice he was talking about my phone case. "Yes i needed a new phone case." I said then turned around for my turn. When it was my turn. He then spoke again. "I hope you have a nice birthday." I smiled at him and turned to leave. "Thanks, hope you have a nice day." His smile was even bigger. "Yes i think i will." I left the store and got into my car. I was putting my phone in its new case. I then notice that the old man was at my window. I rolled down my window. "I forgot to tell you. You always have a good smile on your face. And is good and helpful to your grandmother. I am proud of you." I smiled at him. "Yes i do and i love my grandmother very much." He smiled back at me. I went home and got ready for my dinner date with my aunt and her son. I had a big smile on my face. I left and went to my aunts house. We went to a Mexican restaurant. I told her about my day and my talk with an old man at the store. She asked me to describe him and i remembered that he looked the exact same in the photo my grandma has on her wall in the living room. I told her and she said with the biggest smile that that was my grandmas dad who died before i was born. I remembered what he said about my smile. To this day i think about what he said to me at the store. Its been 6 months since that happened. I enjoy every moment.
