A few months ago, I had some very painful feelings downstairs. This isn't the scary part of this story, but it must be heard. My pain turned out to be a hernia, for those who don't know what a hernia is, a hernia is an abnormal exit of tissue, which grows larger and larger the longer it is left untreated. I happened to have one in one of my testicles. What I didn't know until going to a doctor, was that I'd had it all my life, and only when going to the doctors they had seen how large it had gotten. I had noticed my testicle to be larger, but didn't realize how huge it actually got from being so swollen. I couldn't feel it for years because of how small it was, but the longer I had it, the bigger it got, which led to it discomforting my testicle and making it 5 times its normal size.
Due to me not having insurance at the time, I decided to fly to England, the country of my birth, in order to get the surgery for little to no cost. In England they have universal healthcare to citizens. By the way, I live in the East Coast of the US. Before booking my ticket, I contacted family members from across the Atlantic to see if I could stay with any of them for the few weeks while I was there for the time I'd be recovering from the surgery. Two said yes. One of those was my cousin. The other my uncle.
After flying into Manchester, I went to my uncles house and stayed at his place for a few days, before going to my cousin's house who lives only a few houses down from him. They live in a rather rough, droopy, ugly town. Anyway It was a normal couple of weeks, the down side being I never got the surgery in England due to the doctors telling me I wouldn't be able to travel home for over a month if I got it. I was pissed off, I spent 6 days in hospital just to be told that. I was annoyed as hell that I wasted money going there, but I had a good time with some other relatives, went out drinking, smoked some marijuana, just had some decent times. I changed my ticket, and was due to be flying home from London instead of Manchester. I had never been to London before, and since the trip was a failure for its purpose, I decided to go to there for a few days before flying home.
On the last day before going to London, I hung out with my cousin and her boyfriend. I originally was going to stay there until my flight, but I wanted to have some time in London before the long haul flight home. My cousin and her boyfriend are both in their mid 40's and both live off the government. I hated my cousin's boyfriend because he was an asshole, and refused to work. I didn't exactly like my cousin either, but I still love her, she's family after all.
I expected her boyfriend to annoy the fuck out of me, but surprisingly he treated me nicely and made dinner for me that night. I felt surprised and maybe I felt like I was too hard on him the last time I saw him a few years before. The next day I went to London and was having a good time.
I went on the London Eye, a huge Ferris wheel type ride where you and 10 other people or so get on a glass enclosed structure, and ride on it for 30 mins or so over looking the whole city. When I got off the ride, my cousin messaged me. It was a picture message, a picture of a woman with a bloated face covered in blood. I didn't realize at first that the picture was of my cousin.
She was in hospital. I didn't know the full details until I arrived back in America, but the details are shocking. Basically my cousin had an argument with her boyfriend, after he brought all of his stuff into her house. He didn't live there, and had gotten evicted from his previous residence. My cousin didn't want him living with her, or just wasn't ready to. In one of his bags he had a old coin which went missing. For whatever reason he thought it was valuable, but in reality was worthless. At the time he didn't know that, and being someone who got kicked out, he had little to no money. He accused my cousin of stealing it, and then went off on her, beating her up. I don't just mean hitting her a few times, I mean literally trying to kill her. She passed out from being kicked in the skull so many times, throwing up as well. He kept on hitting her and hitting her until he ran off after seeing the police show up.
Luckily my cousin was on the phone with her friend seconds before the beating, and the friend heard everything and called the police. Fractured bones, severe concussion, huge loss of blood, black and blue breasts, fractured jaw. My cousin survived the attack by some miracle. The most disturbing part of this is that her boyfriend told the police that he wanted her to suffer, and enjoyed watching her face blow up into a swollen massacre. He is currently serving 8-12 years.
I can't imagine what I would have done witnessing the brutal beating had I decided to stay at her house instead of going to London for those days before going home. I ended up getting insurance and recently had the surgery.
