It was a very hot summer in the little town I live in. Naturally me and some friends decided to go to the lake where all the "cool guys" throw parties. We took my car, a beat up old Jeep, and drove out of town onto a bumpy hilly road. The "road" was starting to get more overgrown as we went along so we decided to just walk the rest of the way. So I parked just off the path and got out.

Nothing bad could happen!

So me and my two friends, who I call chips and sunny, grabbed our bags contacting the usual items for a trip like this. Sunscreen, Towels, a set of clothes, some snacks, and good old water. We continued along the path it was overgrown so much at one point we had to push through twiggy bushes and low tree limbs to get by. But it was worth it! On the other side was this large beautiful lake! The sun shining on the still and reflective water made us cheer in excitement. We already had out swim suits on, just under some shorts and a tank top so after taking those off, Sunny dashed over to the water, she had short blonde hair and bright green eyes, always tan and was just beautiful! but before she jumped in.

She stopped and looked at a sign the read 'No Swimming'. Now Sunny always followed rules even if she hated them so she turned back to us and sighed "We can't swim here, lets just go back" Chips was not about to let a dumb sign ruin her fun. So she walked over to the sign and pulled it out of the ground. (Using some unknown strength) before tossing it aside "See no more rules!" Chips smiled before walking into the lake. Splashing some water on Sunny. I just laughed and placed my bag down next to the others before jumping in. Sunny joined us cautiously and because of her being like this the whole time. I think it's the reason I'm still breathing.

Some time passes and its about 6:00 pm. Its still bright out and Chips wants to see who will make it to the other side faster. Now the lake wasn't massive! But it was a good size and Sunny wasn't a strong swimmer so she declined. Chips and I were both on the swim team at our local college so we could swim fast. I smiled before foolishly accepting the challenge. Sunny gave us the count down.

"Go!" I started swimming as fast as I could knowing that at some point I'd reach the other side and just swim back! Sunny is on the track team and is one of there fastest runners. So when I looked up for a breath to see her running around the lake to where we would end up. I didn't think much of it, because I didn't she her expression. I made it to shore and Sunny pulled me away from the water. "We have to go like now" My vision was blurry and her words were muffled. "Sunny let me get the water out of my ears" I put my finger in my ear trying to dislodge the water yet nothing changed I looked at my hand, red? After a few blinks My vision was normal and my hand was covered in blood.

Sunny took me, Now panicking back to where our bags were and put her towel over my head and pressed it to my ears. "I'm going to grab our bags and we need to leave!" Everything was happening so fast I didn't know what was happening! I was just having a race with "CHIPS!" I shouted as Sunny picked up the bags. No response, "Sunny where is-" she cut me off with her saying "Gone" I demanded an answer. She didn't drown we both know that, she should of been on my tail the whole time! Thoughts raced through my head. "Something pulled her under... A hand the size of her reached up and pulled her under! she screamed so loud for only a second"

Sunny was pale and her green eyes dull. Something is in the water and It took my friend. Furious I started towards the water. But as I did I saw two glowing eye a looking at me from the depths. I turned on my heel and ran. Both of us did, Back through the over growth back up the path taken over by nature and back to the car. Sunny got in the drivers seat and started the car.

We drove away to the hospital, and found that nothing was wrong with my ears that would need anything other than some medicine and time. I thank Sunny everyday, She knew rules were there for a reason and without her I might be dead.

But now as I lay here typing this. All I can think of is.

We never put the warning back up.
