Hospital Experience (True Story)

Background Story: My mum is a nurse at a Hospital here in Sydney Australia. And she's been with this certain hospital for more then 20 years. So growing up, Dad would always drop her off or pick her up and Of course us kids went along. Fast forward now, and we have our license and continue to do this (mum had a car accident when we were younger and she never recovered, she developed a fear of driving psychologically).

Story: this happened on Wednesday night. I had just finished work and mum had asked me to pick her up around 11:30pm. It was around 10:15pm when I got off so I decided to head over and pick her up.

I arrived in the parking area of the hospital and, knowing from experienced that usually mum would not arrive on time, sometimes she had to right reports or check other patients etc... I decided to just have a nap and texted her that I'm outside. The area where the car park is, is just under some trees facing the entrance. And it's for the public unless security tells us otherwise when there's a lot more emergencies. Anyway, before I took a nap, I took a mental note of the time, 11:11 and quickly dosed off. I awoke 30 mins later and mum hadn't arrived. My car windows had fogged up (it's winter now here in Australia) and the visibility was quite obscured. I turn on the car to de fog my windows, and as I did, I noticed a woman in her hospital gown just standing not far off near the drop off zone of the entrance. I look around and although there were some people around or the regular male and female nurses having their cigarettes, they didn't seem to notice this woman.

As my windows became de fogged, it became apparent to me that she was staring at me in the car. I tried to ignore her but I felt this weird feeling of being watched. After about 2 mins, I again looked over and she had walked a bit closer. I could see her face, she was older, probably in her early 70's, long white hair and had many wrinkled lines running across her face, and her eyes were just staring at me, no sign of emotion. I freaked out and grabbed my phone and texted to see where my mum was. I kid you not, I only looked down at my phone for about a minuet when I looked up, and saw that she was near the passenger side of the car. I then thought to myself, maybe she's just confusing me with someone else. So reassuring myself, I open my door and slowly got out:

Me: Ohhh hi! Her: Stares Blankly Me: Are you ok miss? Do you need anything Her: Stares, but tilts her head Me: (freaking out a bit. I looked around and no one seems to notice her but me) Are you lost? Do you need me to get the security?

She didn't respond but just kept staring at me. I just stood frozen, not knowing what to do. For a bout a minute she stared at me. All of a sudden She smiled, but when she smiled, her teeth were a ghastly shade of brown. But her eyes were wide and had that joker like smile. She then started to click her tongue against her teeth and made weird noises. I just stood there, frozen, I thought, what the heck man! This B*** must be crazy.

Then she spoke these words that made shiver, even as I'm writing this:

Her: You can see me... you can see the dead! Hehehe low hissing laugh

Me: What the f*** Miss, what are you on!

Her: Yessssss... you can see me... you see the dead, cackling Tilts head back and forth

By this time, I pulled out my phone and threatened to call police or even security, because she just had that smile and the wide looking eyes, tilted her head, cackling and walking slowly.

Just when I looked at my phone, I didn't notice that mum had texted me and said she's running about 20 mins late. I quickly hit the call button to call her but she didn't answer. The woman by then, stopped smiling at me, she had this face that looked like she was going to do something. But she slowly... and slowly, backed away from the car, and stood away... no longer smiling but only clicking her tongue.

I got back into my car and locked my doors and texted mum again that I was outside. But the scariest thing was still having that sound of clicking. Slowly but steadily, she walked away. I turned on my car music and connected my phone to the Bluetooth and started to play a song that would get my mind off it. Eventually mum came 20 or so mins later. As she sat down she had noticed that I was not responsive to her hi son! She asked me what had happened and I explained to her the full story. Mum freaked out (she's religious) and asked me for a description. I told her and she gave me a puzzling look:

Mum: that's odd, I was at the front desk since 11, I was preparing to finish when Rachel* asked me to man the desk as she had to respond to a family emergency. (I know Rachel as she was one of mums close friend/colleague) and no patient went in or out. Only some male nurses and security. Visiting hours finished at 9:30pm and all patients must be kept in and not allowed out after 10:00pm. Are you sure?

I pointed to the area where she was last scene but couldn't see her. I jumped out of the car, and looked around and couldn't see her anywhere near. Actually come to think of it, I only saw her walk slowly, away, looking at me but never saw her walk back into the hospital.

Mum then took from her bag her rosary and started reciting the Hail Mary. She then gave me a pic of St Michael the Archangel to leave in the car, and as what any Filipino catholic mother would do, she even had a bottle of holy water in her work bag and started blessing around the inside and outside of the car.

So since Wednesday, and due to my different shifts for work, my brother has gone to pick up my mum and I asked him just today if he had seen a lady at all for the two days he went to pick her up, and he gives me the weird look and said no.

And that is my scary story!
