Stargazing

This is the story of when I first went to visit my best friend over summer. She lives 3 hours away but came to my town for school because her dad had work and the whole family came down.

We usually stay for anywhere from 4 days to a whole week or else they come down to us if we can't make it up. They'll be here this year because my mom just had a baby. It's my favourite part of the holidays.

Onto the story:

On one of the days we were told there would be a meteor shower. We were ecstatic. So my mom and stepdad went out with her parents for the night leaving just me, my friend, my sister who was 2 at the time and my friends sister who was 9.

We were told 'by all means do go and watch the meteor shower but just make sure the little ones are okay alone.

From this point on I will be calling my friend A.

Me and A got a bunch of blankets and padded out to her trampoline. We made a nest and lay down waiting. The next hour was filled with meteors and 'look! Did you see that?'

Suddenly I heard a noise. One thing to know is A lives in a place where there's not a lot of houses or lights. In fact there's trees everywhere and a fence blocking them from the garden.

It sounded like crackling and rustling. I felt my heart skip a beat. I whispered to A that I heard a noise and she told me it was just a fox or badger or something. Because it's woods.

After a while the sounds got more loud and frequent as well as closer to us and A began to feel uneasy too.

Almost as if something yanked us up, we quickly jumped up and ran inside with our shoes, pillows and blankets in our hands.

About 10 minutes later I got a text. It was my mom. She told us to lock the doors and windows because there was someone in the area who was trying to break into houses.

Basically we crapped ourselves, did as we were told and sat in her room with the door open ready to run and grab the kids if something got inside.

Nothing came in but we found that the fence had been knocked and there was handprints on the trampoline too big to belong to a pair of 14 year old girls. But big enough to be a mans.

We also saw a knife at the edge of those woods. Needless to say we spent the next few days scared and would only go outside during the daytime.
